Charles Daly 1911's?

I had one. It actually shot ball ammo fairly well. It had trouble with hollow points even after a custom polish job. Mine was a two tone stainless and blue. Very sharp looking. The problem I had was when I tried to sell. Nobody with any handgun knowledge would touch it with a ten foot pole. I actually had gun shops straight out tell me that they didn't want it period. One shop offered me $180, and this gun was in like new condition!!! I ended up selling privately for $300 with a leather holster, Fobus holster, and ammo. I probably would stay away from them in the future. BTW-I believe these are made in the Phillipines if that means anything to you. Good luck.

Supposedly these are made by Rock Island Armory for Charles Daly. The RIA guys have nothing bad to say about them. My RIA was flawless and I would imagine the Charles Daly would be very similar.

Like mine. Shoot ragged holes all day with them. Slight issue with feeding WWB (actually, my sig 1911 does too) but fed my Hornady Tap +P ammo just fine. YMMV.

Up until a couple of months ago. Armscor and Charles Daly have parted ways. The new Charles Daly line is due out in the next couple of months. They are now being produced by Bul of Israel, and will supposedly be in the $600-700 price point.

Ouch.. there's stiff competition at that price. I wish them the best of luck but I can't see that as a good business decision, especially when the economical 1911 market is basically owned by RIA.

Couldn't agree more. Think about it this way. If you were shopping for a car, would you buy a $70,000 Hyundai, even if they were now being manufactured by Mercedes?

I bought one earlier this year from Bud's. Very happy with it. Extremly accruate at 10 yards. Feeds all my reloads with no problems. Nice looking pistol for the price.

Exactly why we made the decision. We are not in business to compete with our manufacturer. When Armscor decided to sell their own products through RIA, it was only a matter of time before we had to part ways. The situation deteriorated further when Armscor added Hi-Standard and then STI to the list of guns they produce, we said goodbye.

Bul in Israel has been making our polymer framed hi-cap 1911 and they have been anxious to start producing a steel framed gun. We decided to go with them even though we knew competing at the higher price point would be difficult. However, the quality of the production is absolutely incredible. We showed 4 pre-production samples at a recent trade show and we almost had to use a crowbar to get whoever was holding the gun to let go.

We will be formally launching the product line to the full industry at the SHOT Show in 10 days in Orlando. We have named them the "G4" for 4th generation of 1911's from Charles Daly. Here is a pic:

Like our entry into the AR market, we have stepped up the quality of what we are selling. It will take some time to prove it to the world, but I think we will be able to do it. The guns are beautiful. Frankly, I'm sorry we didn't do this several years ago when Bul first wanted to. Selling higher quality is always more difficult than selling on price only. We took the easy way for 10 years, but now we are taking the better way.
