Charles Daley 1911

When Charles Daly first came on the scene, they had a shoddy product. Thru consumers voicing their opinions it has changed. I purchased a Daly 1911 FS model in July, serial number begins with "CD". This pistol is put together very nicely, no tooling marks, nice even finish and tightly fit. The pistol has amazing accuracy and has performed flawlessly without any sort of failures with hardball or hollow point ammo. As with any gun, before you purchase it give it a thorough lookover.

my earlier CD 1911 isn't the prettiest gun to look at. It has some tooling marks inside the slide. But man, does it shoot accurately and so far, dependably! It is a good truck gun. Now that I know how easily someone can break in, I don't carry my trick Colt 1911 except to the range. My CD set me back 300.

well i almost got one of these, didnt quite have the money.
but they are very nice looking, well made guns for the money.
for a bargin 1911 full size this is one of the best choices i have seen.

Last time I looked at one (admittedly a long time ago) every single one I could find was pretty junky. I'm no expert but even I could see it. Now? I don't know. It would be nice to find out they've really improved, because if I could get a decent quality 1911 for that price, I'd probably go for it. I'll see if I find any at the local gun show tomorrow and let you know what I think.

Mine fine and I got no complaints yet. Just that I got some crappy mags with it. But I'm in the process of trying some Wilson's and Chip's. I also replaced the firing pin stop(mine was pretty loose) and got an 18.5lb recoil and firing pin spring set. Even before I replaced these it shot good.
Like others have siad try to find a newer one with the serial 3 starting with CD#####
Graet gun for the price.

I've owned two Charles Dalys...The first (ser# A77XXXX)was lacking in fit, and finish, and became unreliable after about 400 rounds. I took the gun to George Smith at EGW and he replaced the firing pin stop, which was flopping around in it's mount. He tuned an extractor, installed a 18.5 lbs recoil spring, and full length guide rod. The slide literally "bounced" down the frame, and there were intermittant wear marks to prove it. I put another 400 rounds through the gun and sold it.

The second CD is a much improved 1911. (Ser #CD 0046XX) has great fit and finish, but I replaced the firing pin stop with a fitted EGW stop, an EGW extractor, full length guide rod,and barrel bushing, and McCormick hammer, sear, and trigger.

The present CD is as nice a 1911 as you can find for less than $600. It's as accurate as my Kimber Classic Customs, and my Springfield HiCap. It is very reliable and feels great. The trigger is a crisp 2.5 lbs! I love the gun!
