I have tried to do a search on this but I can't seem to bring up anything.Maybe if I learned how to SPELL it it would help!I did a search on the web and I found out they were being made or imported by KBI. Does any one know anything about KBI? I have a chance to get a charles daly 45 and I was wondering if anyone has anything good/bad to say about them. I have a choice between a compact model with brown checkerd wood grips or the full size with black plastic grips. There isn't a big difference in the size between the compact and full size models but I was leaning tword the smaller one. The shop that has them is asking $399.00 for either one. How does this price sound? I know they aren't the High dollar 45's but for the money are they a good relible pistol? Thanks in advance for any advise --C.L.

I heard they are selling for around 350 from another post, I dont know much about them. Remember in this board there will people who love them and people who cant stand them, the thing to find out if these people actually own them.

I just bought a Charles Daly last week, had it to the range once so far. The gun that I purchased is very well made. The finish is excellent, no tooling marks, has the melt down type slide. Slide to frame fit isn't tight but isn't overly loose. In all honesty when this was put next to a Kimber Custom Classic it looked just as nice. Function was fine, no failures to feed or fire. All I shot was hardball so far. I always break new pistols in with 300 rounds of ball ammo. Accuracy was great, didn't measure groups, but was able to keep everything in the 9 and 10 rings of a B-27 target. KBI is a good company to deal with. I also own a AK-47 that they import from Hungary, another quality firearm. For the money you can't beat it. As this was my first 1911 the guy behind the counter helped me out a lot. Also stated they have been selling the Daly's for a year now and haven't had to send one back yet.

cplane,I have the full size model.I paid right at $400 new. It has been a surprisingly accurate and reliable shooter. The fit and finish is quite good, with the slide to frame fit being tighter than my Colt Commander. I had purchased this as a starter gun to build on, but have ended up keeping it stock, aside from a new rear sight and Hogue grips. I highly reccomend the Daly to anyone, just be sure it is the newer model style. It is my understanding that there were problems with the first series. The new series have the serial number beginning in CD.They also have the melted look on the slide edges that Rob96 spoke of.

Had my Daly FS model out again today, another 100 rounds thru it without a hitch. I probably will keep mine stock as I can keep everything in the 9 and 10 rings with occasional flyers in the 8. Did some double tap drills today and was very impressed. I did add a piece of grip tape to the front strap, improved the gripping of the gun.

Thanks for the all the replys. I am going tomorrow morning to lay one away. I have to wait about three weeks before I can buy another one, the thirty day waiting period between purchases. I am trading in the taurus millenium I just bought and the shop is giving me all my money back on it. I liked the taurus but when I bought it I made the mistake of picking up the Daly he had in the counter and it felt so good I couldn't get it out of my mind! After thinking about it and checking in on the firing line , I had to have it. I guess it takes a couple of tries to get it right sometimes. I still don't know if I will go with the compact or full size Daly. I like the capacity of the full size better so I will probably go with it. :)
