Charles Daily Hp

I had been wanting a Hi Power for a while and stumbled over a Charles Daily for a little over $300, so I picked it up. Turns out it was one of the ones assembled by Magnum Research. Not a fan of the big dot sight set up on it, and I was told that the slide was milled to accept 1911 sights. Anyone know if there is any truth to that ? Also looking for a place to pick up some mags at a reasonable price.

Several different cuts of 1911 sights out there, depending on brand, check with XS and see if their dovetail cut is the same as anyone else's, might be the same as Novak's cut, IIRC.

Any quality HP mags will work

I have the same gun, they're good quality, built to spec from FEG components so after market parts fit, well fit and finished. If it hasn't been done already, remove the mag disconnect, it does wonders for the trigger pull. Also, if you're like me HPs bite the web of your hand. I replaced the hammer in mine with a C&S "No Bite" hammer and it made the gun an absolute pleasure to shoot.

I'll definitely look into the hammer because it's got me a couple times already. I was thinking Novaks or something similar, although I have Tru Glo's on my Glock 17 & 19. I really like those. I'm looking forward to tuning this one up a little, and doing some more shooting with it.

Had one just like yours several years ago, the Magnum Research made one. Like you, I couldn't stand the big dot sights. Replaced them with a Millett adjustable rear and a red fiber-optic front. Yes, the dovetails are the same as a 1911. Carried that gun for several years before selling it to buy something else that struck my fancy at the time. Sort of wish I still had it. Was a good, dependable pistol. Never had a problem with it.
