Changing springs and trigger on a Sig P229

Hello to all:
I just recently purchased a Sig P229 and was interested in changing out the factory springs and trigger to improve the double action trigger pull. I am fairly adept at working on 1911 pistols but have never touched a double action pistol. Would this be a very difficult jog for a kitchen table gunsmith or am I better off having a professional do this work? Thanks to all those who respond.....45Fan

.45fan, I don't think it will be that difficult just changing parts. No more so than disassembling and assembling. The problem you may run into is that most "drop-in" parts like triggers will require some fitting. If this turns out to be the case I would recommend you take it to your local smith. George

I have changed out a bunch of Sig triggers and nothing requires "fitting". There's also more to getting a nice DA pull than changing the mainspring (hammerspring if you prefer), although that's a start.
