Changing Rear Sight on S&W 15-2

If you want to put a better sight on it then Millet is probably the best way to go. Just unscrew the original Smith sight and take it to your gunshop. There will be a Millet of the same configuration to replace it, note especially the front 'tang', if the Smith is round (as I guess yours is) you'll need a round tang Millet. Also, what depth of slot do you want - these vary too. Before taking it to bits I suggest you have a look at the Millet brochure.
Good Luck.

You can do it yourself, and if you don't want to go to the expense of a Millet S&W does make replacement blades in choices of plain black and white outline. They also come in three different heights, so be sure to get the height you need.

You will need a proper fitting screw driver as the existing screw needs to be turned to the point of breaking the screw as this is the procedure for removal. A punch and a block of wood or something will be needed for support when staking the new nut.

i was thinking this might be the case. i have a new s&w wo rear sight. so, for reassurance, it's that simple and fool proof?

You need the new sight blade, a new screw, and a new nut. As knzn said, it is simple to actually do.

I like Millet sights for target work, but they have a very shallow notch that does not give me as good a picture for a combat gun as the original S&W sight.
