Changes to my small pistol collection

I have been shopping a small pocket .380, and got me thinking of making another change in my small pistol collection.

Currently, I have:
American Classic 1911 Government 9mm
EAA (pre Windicator) slabside .357 Mag in 6"
H&R 923 .22LR revolver in 6"
Walther CCP 9mm
Ruger MKIII
Radom P64 9mm Makarov

I'm about to add a Ruger LCP Custom .380 for pocket/very discrete carry.

I'm not a big fullsize double stack fan, but am thinking of replacing the CCP with a midsize double stack to fill the gap for something with a little more capacity. I'm thinking of something along the lines of an XDm 3.8, Midsize Beretta PX4, or a midsize M&P 9.

The midsize will give me more capacity than the CCP, while keeping decent concealability, and a good size for target use. When I need to carry something more discrete, I will have the LCP Custom for that bill.

Thoughts?

In my opinion capacity is the least important issue you should consider...

Picking a gun that suits you best - is about what fits your hands the best...and in general terms, you should carry what you shoot the best.../ grip angle, how trigger breaks and resets, etc are big issues....and controls, width, weight, etc.....
-------------
For myself, if I want a small carry gun it will either be a Sign 239 ( single stack, in 9mm or .40 s&w )....or a 4" 1911 in 9mm.....or maybe a K frame S&W revolver in .357 mag in a 2 1/2" like a model 66....

But in terms of capacity - mags in semi autos are probably their weakest link in terms of reliability...so carry an extra mag ...and train, and drill, on speed reloading ...and tactical reloads with any gun you choose to carry... / ... so in my view, a gun and an extra mag that will hold 15 or 16 combined is plenty....

I carry my LCP-sized pistol often. I am really more of a revolver guy, but it is the right size to carry in very light clothing.

Nice collection! :)

+1 on the kahr line of pistols. I carry a P380 in the pocket quite often and dont even know its there. Definitely check out the Sig 320 series of guns. I have the carry model in 9mm and absolutely love it. I had plans to buy a glock 19 untiil i held that puppy and wow! Fit, finish and trigger blew the glock and the smith m&p away. Plus it came with a nice set of tritium night sights.

Is there anything in your current horde that you don't like, don't shoot much, or doesn't work right, or doesn't fit a current or anticipated need?

I can not believe I am going to say it because I am not a Glock fan, Glock 34 is one of the few guns I ever got rid of with zero regret. But after handling and shooting the Glock 43 one will probably come home with me eventually. It is only fractionally bigger than the Glock 42 .380.

EDIT: Guess that did not help much. I read it as you looking for a .380. I would go with the 43 over a .380.

Think about Bigjim's comments, a pistol that is right for you should not be difficult to determine, find one that is comfortable in the hand, easily concealed, mild to shoot because if it stings your hand you will not shoot it often and practice is encouraged. There are many types of semi autos and a couple of revolvers ( remember upside down Rhino), my personal choice is a Sig P 238 or 938 (9mm) but these are single action and utilize cocked and locked carry. While I am comfortable with the platform, using a good holster, some are not.
Only you can determine what is right for you, everyone has a favorite or bias but you are the one to make a determination as to what is right not Joe Blow writing on the forum from Diddlebrook New York.

I'm confused about what you're considering a "midsize". Both the M&P and PX4 come in a standard full-size model and a Compact. Additionally, there is the 5"-barrel M&P "Pro Series" long-slide model, the PX4 Subcompact which looks similar to the full-size and Compact but is actually dissimilar internally, and the M&P Shield, which has a conceptually similar design to the M&P and M&P Compact but is substantially smaller in all dimensions.

That said, the M&P Compact and XDm 3.8 are close to the CCP in size and weight, so they may be a good fit if you shoot them well and the added capacity floats your boat (keeping in mind what BigJimP said, which I agree with).

Lose the American Classic or Ruger first. Weakest in your stable imo. Take it back lose the 22 I hate 22. Lose the 22 first.
You went in exactly the opposite direction I would have gone!

I really like Filipino 9mm 1911's. The Ruger Mk-series is one of my all-time favorite pistols. Lastly, although the H&R is not coveted the way older .22LR revolvers from Colt and S&W are, it's potentially very difficult to replace if one grows to regret selling it; ease of replacement is one of my main criteria for deciding whether to dispose of a gun.

I took it to mean the models most manufacturers refer to as compact (PX4 compact, G19, and so on), between the full-sized service pistols and the subcompacts. That is only my interpretation, though; clarification would be welcome.
