Rem. 700 LTR 308 Cal. Use only for Target shooting, Stock felt to light for me and my friend also has a 700P that the stock is heavier than the LTR also made by HS Persition. Called HS & advised me it would fit the LTR which it did. I like everything but yesterday I noticed the rear action screw was a little low. Did not call Remington yet, but does anyone know if the action screws are longer in the 700P than the 700 LTR

Are you saying the screw is too long, or too short? The 1 HS precision stock I bought years ago came with longer screws that had to stay with that stock. Since the stock is thicker than the factory sporter stock I replaced I needed longer screws to reach the action.

I'm not exactly sure how different the 2 stocks are, but it is possible they use different length screws even though they are made by the same company.

If your screws are too long, it is easy enough to file it down a bit to fit, or use a washer as a spacer. if they are too short it may be easier to just buy some good hardened screws from a good hardware store than buy from the factory. You may need to comntact HS Precision rather than Remington.

false alarm

Went back to my box of parts and found original screws. I did use the new screws that came with the stock.torqued them to 65" lbs and used it last target shooting seasion. when giving the rifle a quick wipe down,I noticed the short action screw. Installed the original screws all is well. Rifle shoots tight groups and I like the new heaver stock, hope it might shoot even tighter with the correct screws .The HS screws were 1/8" shorter.I also read an artical about bedding with a layer of thin leather. I like trying to improve to get that constant bug hole. Thanks Chris
