Challenger Shotshells

I was just wondering if anybody has used Challenger shotshells. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am a beginner that is missing most of my targets, and the price of the Challengers looks really appealing. I have no intentions of reloading right now, so the cheaper hulls don't matter. As far as recoil, pattern, etc, will they be just as good or somewhat close to Remingtons.

I've no experience with Challengers, Matt. But, cheap ammo is perfect for where you are at the moment.

Save those STS hulls, they'll be useful later...

I've shot many flats of Challenger shells and like them better than the Remington, Federal and Winchester promotional loads. The only criticism I have of them is that they are often a little hotter. I'd go for their Light Load or the 2-3/4 dram as opposed to the Handicap.

Where in Ontario are you shooting?
 
I shot 8 cases of the challenger 1.1/8oz target loads last year. They are good shells, pattern nice, clean burning, and I think maybe a little softer recoiling.
When I was ready to buy shells this year the Fiocci were just a little cheaper so I bought a bunch but I don't like it as well as the challenger.
By my figuring, I could save about 70 cents per box if I reloaded but I don't have time or desire to reload shotgun shells.

I know the area quite well. There are several ranges in and around Waterloo if you want to learn more about the shotgun games although it sounds like you have a good set up already. Have you considered getting some lessons? There is an instructor based in Waterloo.

I know that it has been a while since you posted your last message, but I have been very busy, and am just getting to it now. Could you maybe email me, and tell me some of the local ranges/instructors that would give me a few lessons. Could you also give me an idea of what it would cost for lessons.
