Great news! I have a VERY liberal, hippie, computer programmer birkenstok wearing tree hugging vegetarian buddy of mine who was anti from the start. I just started shooting about 1.5 months ago, and managed to drag him to the range with me. Got him pretty involved, he has been wavering on actually purchasing a handgun, I think he decided on a .22LR target pistol. For him, he liked shooting and the challange of being a "good shot", but he was not comfortable buying anything "defensive", i.e. whose primary purpose was to kill people (Yes, even BG's). So today after about 600 rounds of .22 I cruised out to the bathroom, and returned with a surprise rental - an AR-15. I'm former USMC, so I know my way around this particular rifle better then any rational individual.

To make a long post short(ish), he damn near jizzed all over himself after a few mags, and was wondering how much they went for and where he could get one. Fellas, this guy was ready to put the plastic down TODAY!

Imagine his chagrin wgen I told him that as of the first of the year it was illegal for him to purchase one in the state of California. I reminded him that the NRA fought to keep such rights, and threw out that passe line "If your not part of the solution...)

He picked up an NRA app from the gun shop, filled out a check and dropped it in the mail 1/2 hour later.

Wow, what a great weekend this turned out to be :-)

P.S. - He wants to drive to the next gun show in AZ and....well, you know ;)

Good job!

Just remember that you can't always "convert" 'em, but you can lead by example and tell them the truth.

Some safety instructions, a couple of boxes of shells, and a trip to the range never hurt, either! Well done!
