Cetme Bolt Carrier

I bought a "new" original Cetme bolt carrier for my rifle. I changed out all the proper parts and instilled it into my receiver. I pulled the charging handle and the carrier would only close half way. I took the new carrier out and found what looks like a large roll pin/spring stop inserted about half way down in the original carrier tube. Now here's my questions. Can I remove the "roll pin/spring stop" from my original carrier and install it into the new one? If so, how? Do I need to replace my recoil spring and guide rod with a G3 to use the new carrier? Is a G3 recoil spring and guide rod longer than a cetme?

humm, I've never seen such a mod before. I have seen a similar part as the one inside the old carrier tho. It was a Century cocking tube repair shim. Sometimes they would "accidentally" cut through the cocking tube end when demilling the CETME, as the cocking tube extended into the receiver. This made the cocking tube unusable. So Century manufactured to shim to be welded inside the cocking tube, and then inserted into the receiver to be welded or brazed. I wounder if the shim separated? If it has, that may be the issue in the cocking tube. The carrier may be binding. It is repairable. The surfaces need to be cleaned, the tube either replaced or rewelded with a shim, then brazed or welded to the receiver. You might want someone with a bore type scope look inside the tube and check the integrity of the weld and the extension. Lastly, the end of the tube should have a .020 gap at rest, (end of the tube).

The HK recoil spring is the same size. The end retainer is different, the CETME uses a metal conical cap, the HK a combination of a nylon bushing and cap. If the bushing is trimmed, it will work in a CETME.
