Ceramic Coating? Would like to - but spooked by the pc police...

I would really like to get a rifle treated with a ceramic coating(maybe even two rifles...)but as I was getting ready to do it...I began to read some of the legal arguements being made against it. I don't want a 'purple and yellow polka dotted' gun...but was thinking of a nice green that would blend well with one of my laminated stocks. I was also thinking of a nice 'white' that might be neat(and protective)for those long days out in the snow... I really like some of the coatings...but I don't want to get written up and treated like a felon just because one of my barrels is deemed 'too rich a shade of green...' Where does the law stand on all this?????

"Where does the law stand on all this?????"

What law?
You can paint (cover, coat, etc.) a gun in any color (or combo) you want.

Yeah...but...

I was reading of some city(can't remember the particular one...)that had come out with some sort of ordinance against 'painted/coated guns' due to their being perceived as 'toys/or being too concealable...' What is irksome is where the line is drawn ie. is my 'green' too 'green'? Is my laminate and green deemed 'too concealable or too flashy'. Also, I hate to invest in ceramic coating if in a few years they are to be banned...
I dread this possible conversation where I say 'But officer, I didn't realise my forest green ceramic barrel was illegal in this city...' or 'Officer, I didn't know there was a fine for hunting with a firearm like this...' I think I'll still get one painted but I might end up with ceramic 'black' rather than the 'forest green'.

The city you refer to is NYC and the proposal is typical NYC insanity. If you live in the United States :), a ceramic coating is not an issue.
