Recently pick up a century arms p14 chanberd in 7mm rem mag. Appears to be a nice gun so far. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I know these guns were rebareld and sporterised millitary guns. Any one out there have any experience with these rifle.

I had one of those type rifles(P17) re-barreled in 1996 to a magnum chambering. It blew up in my face 12/21/97 and damned near killed me. I won't even pick one up anymore.

Well, I guess that ought to answer his question then! I guess the recommendation would be to get an old tire and a long string to go with it.

I'll provide a little more information about "some" of those rifles. There have been issues with the front ring being very hard and causing problems when the barrel is tightened excessively. My action failed due to over-annealing of the front ring to facilitate drilling and tapping for the scope base. This was exacerbated by gunsmith error in threading and installing the barrel. The rifle held up to over 100 rounds of moderate handloads before disintegrating with a factory load.
Insight into the "CAI sporters" which might affect this particular rifle: While I was in the gun shop business, I bought a large lot of Mauser "sporters" that had "blems" (mostly stripped or misaligned scope base holes or mismatched bolts) from CAI. I corrected most of the problems and resold all but one which had excessive headspace. I sent that one to a gunsmith to be re-barreled and found the barrel over tightened to the point of having to be cut from the receiver.
Add that little bit of info to the fact that overtightening is known to induce cracks in the front ring of P14/17 actions and make your own decision.
