Century Arms MAS 36 in.308

I did a search in the old posts, but I did not seem to find any definitive answers. Is the Century reworked MAS chambered on .308 worth a crap? I have heard that the semi-auto 56's suck, but have yet to find anyone who could comment on the 36's. I am thinking about picking one up, I shoot my guns a lot and don't really want to pay for 7.5 (expensive!).
Thanks

Go to the JFPFO homepage, (the address is in the links section) and they have a very indepth report about the functioning of the MAS.

Apparently with the gas system made for a different pressure cartridge, it quickly turns into an expensive club. But the gas system can be adjusted by a gunsmith so it will work with the .308.

Whoops my bad. I didn't realize it was the bolt action, I was thinking of the semi-auto that century is importing. I got the model numbers mixed up. Sorry.

I had one of the semi-auto's in 308, put about 100 rounds through it, and gave it to my Father.

Mechanically, it worked fine for me, but I was not very accurate with it. (I had better groupings w/ my stock mini-14.)

My Father has had a few failure to extract problems, and is taking it to a smith for a checkup.

I have a friend who picked one up the same day I did. I'll ask him what his experience is.
