CCW vs Carry Carry

If you have a CCW and are traveling in a state that honors CCW from the state you have yours from and the state you are traveling in have more restictive car carry laws than your ccw allows, which law is in force?

Example:
Suppose you have a CCW from GA and are traveling in TN, which reciprocates with GA. Tennessee car carry laws are such that if you are carrying a gun in the car it has to be either unloaded and in plain view or in the trunk if loaded. So, if loaded, do you still have to lock it in the trunk according to the car carry laws despite the fact that you have a ccw that says you can carry it loaded.

My understanding is,,,

You must always defer to the laws of the state you are in at the time.

At least that's what I glean from all of my reading on the subject.

Need to check this since it's been a while since I looked the laws up, but I believe the car carry laws in TN don't apply to TN CCW holders.

So if your CCW permit is recognised by TN then you should be able to carry on your person even in a car.

Again check the wording on the laws about car carry and ccw.

But as aarond said, the state you are in are the laws you have to follow.

The reciprocity gives you the equivalent of that states carry permit, but it doesn't let you apply your home states laws in the state you're visiting.

but I believe the car carry laws in TN don't apply to TN CCW holders
This is really what I am after. What takes precedent the TN car laws or the TN ccw laws when carrying in a car in TN and you have a ccw honored by TN.

I fully realize GA laws are not going to be in effect in TN. It's really confusing because I have found conflicting versions of what the car carry laws are in various states. I'll probably end of keeping it in the trunk
