CCW Reciprocity in other states

I recently applied for my CCW in Idaho, hope to see it soon. What is the law concerning a CCW holder carrying across state lines? I'd assuming this is a state-by-state thing, anyone know any links that would answer this?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I got a permit to carry,it's called the friggin Constitution.---Ted Nugent

Beware.... As Gunsite personnel pointed out to me, much of the posted reciprocity info may not be accurate. Call ahead to the state police or other agency in the state in question before you travel.

Some states like Indiana allow CCW by people from states not even bordering them, if they have a permit, although it certainly is not always a reciprocal agreement. One must carefully read the laws of each state before carrying in that state though.

Also beware, most state police don't WANT you to carry in their state so they will tell you (in absence of hard facts) don't carry here!

And REMEMBER: don't carry on a federal reservation (military base) in ANY state. I almost learned the hard way when I got stopped for an illegal left turn on base. They elected not to search my vehicle, but upon questioning a Navy cop the next day, I would have been in deeeeeep doo doo..
