I am looking at getting a used pistol. Which of the following 3 would you choose for CCW, and how much would you expect to pay?

Karh K9
Karh P9
Sig 239

thanks,

I'd carry any of them. The one extra round the Sig 239 holds is insignificant to me.
The lighter weight of the Kahr P9 makes it more attractive for carry, but I have heard of issues it has. Do a search on this board.
The Sig may have a leg up because of the DA/SA action. I am more accurate with in the SA mode. The more longer a fight goes on, the more critical it is to place each shot correctly. As I see it, as time goes on, my chances for survival goes down.
I'd expect to see about $525.

I agree you cant go wrong with any of them....there are used Kahr K9's locally in UT for pretty reasonable...typically 350$ price range...look around and dont pay over 400 $ for a nice used one...you can get a new E9 for just over 400$ and its the same gun as the K model. The P's have had some minor probs with the frame rails....so check it out before you buy......

Shoot well

I'm with the Inspector

Carry the larget caliber you can manage.

Concealed carry should be comforting, not comfortable.

I think I'll add that to my profile, since I use it so often.

To be quite honest, it's both comfortable AND comforting. Sparks does a heck of a job with the VMII. I'll never purchase another style of IWB holster. The VMII kicks the crap out of all the rest. It is the proverbial "end of the tunnel" in the IWB search. The most concealable way to pack a full-size .45, comfortably.

And yeah, the .45 Government Model is COMFORTing as well. Such a wonderful piece. Truly a testimony of American craftsmanship and cunning. If it isn't a Colt, it's just a copy.

hehehehe... :)

I have the SIG P239 9mm and really like it. If you're only going to have one CCW gun, that's a good choice, since it's small enough to carry easily but large enough to shoot all day without discomfort. The K9 is about the same size, so that's another good choice.

However, I'm currently looking at both smaller (Kahr MK9) and larger (SIG P220ST?) guns for CCW. A lot depends on your dress. In business situations, the P239 can be hard to conceal, especially compared to a pocket pistol. On the other hand, like Commander Fan said, if you can carry a larger gun, you probably should. I'm not super-accurate with the P239, and I think moving up to a full-size heavy frame might help, and the larger caliber would be more comforting. :)

The Kahr K9 is actually significantly smaller than the P239. Still a belt holster gun, though. With the 239, you have the DA/SA transition to deal with. On the other hand, the 239 is very accurate. The K9 has a very nice, smooth trigger, but it is quite a long stroke. The 239 feels top-heavy in your hand. The K9 does not. Both are good guns. The P9 has had some teething problems. I might wait on the that one a bit.
