CCW at GunShow

I'm trying to get an idea how much the CCW course will cost in a gun show. I'm traveling to Kissimmee from NYC this week and I want to go to the gun show and get my CCW. I see that most gun shops are charging about $100.

I may be wrong here... but I think you got a lot to figure out...

New York state? You got a lot more hoops to jump through than just a class someone is giving at a gun show.... at least this is what I assume you are talking about..... Safe handgun class is usually a day long course, I'm not sure that can be done at a gun show.

Okay... I did a google search.. are you traveling to Kissamee FLORIDA to take a class and then apply for a non resident permit.

You want to "go to the gun show and get [your] CCW"? Are you saying you want to go to the gun show, sign up for a class, take the class, then go to the nearest state office and file your paperwork? How much time are you spending in the area? Classes can go for as little as around $50, and I suggest you get the paperwork online.

You realize this (Florida) CCW will be useless in New York, yes?

Yes I will be in Kissimmee for 5 days. And will be attending the gun show. I want to take the ccw course given there. I have an appointment to get my Livescan fingerprinting done on Friday. Then I will mail out app from home when I get back. I know it useless in NYC, but I will be moving back to FL. sometime in July so I just wanted to get a head start. And I do plan on taking more training. I go to Florida 5 to 6 times a year a week or two at a time so I can get some practice in there.

Welcome to the gunshine state - I left Bklyn many decades ago as I moved around working - never regretted it or moving here. If you like shotgun sports, some good clubs around.

Yes, I can't wait. I lived in Poinciana/Kissimmee for about 3 years almost 7 years ago. It was a little dead back then, but finally it has become a nice little community. I hated having to drive for 10 miles to go to supermarket...lol. But I'm moving back with a wife and 3 kids, so it's time to leave the big city life and enjoy life with kids.

There are gun places in the Tampa area that are good, and places north of mickey/Orlando that are as well. North, we have outdoor ranges (I like better than indoor) so that is nice - none care what you shoot, even full auto, so it is all good

Enjoy the move (I know, yeah RIGHT!) - moved 13 times in 10 years at one point................

Ahhh, that's what I really want to do. Have some fun at a outdoor range. Wish I could've went shooting this weekend. But hopefully by my next trip I will have all my paperwork in order.

Have you looked into what you need to do to change the license from out of state to in a resident permit?

Sounds like a plan to me. I can't imagine that there will be a problem once you become a resident... in fact I'm not sure there is really a distinction in Florida.

And from what I read above, this is the absolute best way to get a permit.... take a class and pay the folks to 'help' you with the paper work and finger prints so that all you or they do is mail all in when you are done.
