CCW and this......

I know this might be better on the Rifle/Shotgun forum but since no one talks about CCW's there...

Looks like a nice 2nd 'under a jacket' gun.

In Fl. I was going to carry my Dan Wesson .357 and a bowie knife. [[18inches, 5" handle and the rest is ALLLL balde. ;) ]]

How bout something like this?

Back in the Eighties, one of the folks I shot competition with had a pair of Ithaca Stake-outs. 12 gauge and 20 gauge. The 20 felt like a 300grain 44mag load. The 12 just plain hurt. Glad I shot them; don't want to do it again.
But when he put a butt stock on the 12 - it was a marvel. Handled great, thumped the shoulder but not too bad. (By the way, he was a federal LEO so it was all legal)

Wow! Most of us probably have revolvers with barrels as long as, or longer than, the barrel of this shotgun.

I'm sure the description is correct about the painful result of using 3" shells. I tried them in an 18-inch pistol grip shotgun, and my hand was swollen for a week.

Anyway, this shotgun looks to me like a fine PDW.

The front sight blade is a nice touch. :) Too bad Indiana doesn't allow short-barreled shotguns. That looks real interesting. A shotgun you can carry in a belt holster.

I was just thinking about those little Mini Shells too... Make a good snake gun around the yard or even a good trail gun for hiking.
Birdshot, buck, flare, and all the other rounds you can get for 12G would make that thing very versital.

$5 stamp huh? Aw heck - it ant the stamp thats the problem... its all the paperwork and selling the Sheriff that you promise not to shoot your own eye out and that you've been a very good boy this year and that you also wan ta firetruck...

oh yeah...and the one inch shell...what kind of load would those be comparable to out of a short, un-choked barrel? Would they be worth it?

What George is talking about is the Title II tax stamp you will need to lawfully purchase the weapon. ATF requires that the highest law enforcement officer in your area, usually the Sheriff (although Chiefs and DAs may also qualify)sign off saying that it is okay with them for you to have it before ATF will issue the tax stamp. There aren't that many Sheriffs willing to do it.

Greetings,

Hey I have a gun exactly like that (except it's 13.5" longer

).

Those 1" shells have a reputation for not feeding reliably. See Shotgun forum for further.

And when firing one of these, I have found that the best protection is one of those bicycling gloves with the gel inside. As Dave McC advises, take your anti-inflammatories first.

Regards,

Ledbetter

In a shotgun that short, I'd rather have a side by side with an extra 3.5" of barrel than a pump with only two shells on tap.

Has anyone else here seen the old Ithaca "Auto and Burglar Gun"?

Satanta, yeah baby! Would love one, but would like it chambered in 3".For the first shot. Have shot one handed fully extended arm with 12 ga before (ala terminator) hurt the bones in my hand. Would do it again if had to but would use both hands this time. Poblem is that with CCW arnt you only limited to pistols and not shotgun or rifles and/or their ammo? Always wanted CCW to carry my benelli under trench coat on shoulder sling. Imagine look on BG face when you swing that beast up and take aim! Was told no long guns, at least out here in kali, hell you cant even get the ccw in the first place so the point is moot. Cool gun though.

I know that the Florida CCW license specifically excludes machineguns, but I can't remember if it excludes short-barreled shotguns as well. The license states "concealed weapon or firearm license." I'll check my 790 statute when I get home.
