Then who owns these things?

I think it would be a great bootgun and quite an effective comunication device. Two blasts of .410 at close range usualy gets the point across.

Question#2:
Anyone have info on 00buck .410loads?

.410 buckshot loads contain 3 pellets in each shell. I have deen these loads for sale at gun shows but never shot any.

A more effective round would be .410 deer slugs [2 1/2 shells] there energy equivlent is about the same a a 41 mag.

Why not just use one of the derringers chambered for .44 or .41mag?

I can see where the shot would be usefull but if you want to run slugs through it I'd opt for the American derringer Company .44mag.

Also has anyone else noticed that any derringer in a decent caliber seems to be just as large as some of the more effective handguns?

 Dang Son, I answerred this the other night....before you started talking to yourself on the thread. :D I don't know where my post went.
I have a friend with one of the American Derringers M4 in .45LC/.410 with the four inch barrel and grips the size of "J" frame Smiths. I've never shot it so I can't comment on how well it works.
I have an American Derringer in .44 magnum that I do ocassionally drop in a trouser pocket. But I always carry a full size model 29 smith and consider the derringer as a back up. It is comforting to be able to innocently slip your hand in your pocket and wrap it around the grip. :)
It is only good for out to 15 feet or so though. The recoil is brutal with full house loads.
American Derringer offers double ought buck in .410 shells. As hom said there are four shot in a shell. Formative in deed!

I wish you would have known about it at EOSM. It was on one of the benches at the range and a few shot it.

I was promised a Shortycicle and I want a Shortycicle!

I was posting as LOCHFAL was. :o
Actually size wise you are gaining very little over a "J" frame Smith with American Derringer. The Bond Derringer is slightly larger than the AD. The old Mitchel Derringers are massive and actually larger than a "J" frame or Colt Detective Special. Ironically thought I compared my AD to my North american Arms mini (.22 mag. frame) when I first got the mini. The AD weighs more but the over all size is almost exactly the same. I even started a thread here about which would be better given the same size, five shots of .22 magnum compared to two of .44 magnum.

Actualy more interested in shot than slug.

Actualy more interested in flechette than shot. For BGs clad in kevlar. Like some of the Gangbangers around here tend to have from time to time.

The smaller Derringers don't usualy draw my interest. The bigger ones do. I like the idea of a CCW o/u .410 for some reason.
