The Tampa Bay Times reports that a CCL holder was tackled inside a Walmart by a fellow who evidently thought the CCL holder was a criminal. The tackler saw the license holder place his handgun under his shirt out in the parking lot. The video shows the CCL holder was tackled from behind and never knew what was coming. Once down, a couple of other citizens appear to help restrain the license holder. When the smoke cleared, it was the tackler who was arrested on a charge of battery. http://www.tampabay.com/news/public...-at-walmart-attacked-by-vigilante-for/2214432
It's just a shame that the sight of a gun not actually being brandished causes such an alarm. It also reinforces for me the advantage that concealed carry has over open carry for most of us. It alarms the public less and makes the person carrying less of a target for either vigilantes, do-gooders, or thieves.
I cant say I've never put on my handgun in a parking lot, but I usually just wear mine inside the car. I figure that with doors locked, I should still have time to reach my pistol even if a bit inconvenient.
