CCI Mini Mags and the old ammo panic

CCI Mini Mags are on black Friday sale at Gander Mountain for $24/300.
They've been on casual availability there for a while. I'm surprised online retailers still don't have them.
.22s seemed to be the last hold out on after effects for the ammo panic. That's just about past as well.

With their production, I don't see why you seldom see them. I do not like crowds, especially Black Friday crowds. They could offer them for $5/100 and I wouldn't visit a Gander Mt on black friday. Bass Pro advertised the 325 packs of for $20.

I went there on Wednesday and got two, 100-round boxes of Mini Mags for $8 each. It was the first time I had seen .22 that wasn't shot shells or match-grade (AKA 20 cents/round) in over a year. They were the only thing I saw on that side of the store that I considered reasonably-priced. They also had the CCI AR22, but I didn't like the price.

DRATS!

I've been holding on to the three unopened boxes of mini-mags waiting for the price to go up so I can auction them off. :D

IME the CCIs seem to be more available in the past year than other brands. I still have no idea why the stores aren't getting supplies. Can't just be due to panic buying because that wouldn't explain the lack of deliveries to the retail stores.

My local Walmart appears to have given up on 22 ammo. Reassigned the display shelf space to rifle ammo. No place to put 22s if they get any...which they haven't in 3 months.

Same at my local WalMart. A couple years ago the entire top shelf of the display case was .22LR. Multiple brands, many boxes of each. It has shrunk to a tiny six inch wide section, which has been empty for the past year.

Something crazy is going on. You'd think by now every person in the country would have 10k rounds stashed away. Everyone but me. :(

The manager of our local Walmart tells me employees aren't bothering to stock the shelves, the ammo hounds line up when their cellphone alerts them 22LR is being stocked and it's gone in minutes. It only takes 5 or 6 purchases at the limit to deplete the shipment.

We stopped by tonight for a friend to get a fishing license and they still had a 300 round box left from the black Friday display unsold.

Mini Mags and Stingers are rare around my area. They show up in limited supply here and there. Bulk packs of plinking stuff is available at Dicks for about $35. One LGS has bricks of decent ammo at $89.

Academies in San Antonio have them, as a matter of fact they raised the limit from 200 to 500 and was told today no limits on 22 magnum. I am glad things are getting better.
