I was in Wal Mart the other day and went to the ammo counter,,,
CCI Mini Mags are still $6.77 per plastic pack of 100.

But then i looked lower on the rack and saw a plastic ammo can,,,
It was marked CCI Mini Mags, 40 grain LRN,,,
1,600 rounds for $98.00 even.

The monster animal is my cat, Bart the Maine Coon,,,
He's wondering what this thing is doing in his favorite nap spot.

The price per 100 cartridges rounds up to $6.13,,,
That's a savings of 64 cents per 100 rounds,,,
Or $10.24 per 1,600 cartridges.

That's not an earth shattering deal,,,
But noteworthy in that you also get a nice plastic can,,,
With a very nice handle and a lid with real hinges instead of a plastic fold.

Just thought I would pass this on to let you know,,,
That they are now available at Wal Mart.

Hello weblance and slowlowmiata,,,

...couldnt bring myself to spend $100 on 22 ammo.

I hear ya my friend,,,
But I shoot so much Mini Mag,,,
Saving $10.00 seemed like a good idea to me.

$98.00 now or $108.32 over time,,,
I had the money so I figured why not.

Got 2100 rds of the bulk federal for $85 with a metal ammo can at cabelas

My Wal Mart sells the bulk Federal for $18.95 a pack,,,
That's only $75.80 for the same amount,,,
But you don't get the spiffy can.

I've never ordered ammo from Cabela's,,,
What did they hit you for shipping on that order?

Good deal, Aarond. I'm going to stop at WalMart on my way home and see if they have some.

Edit: Not only did Walmart not have these in Williston VT, they were completely out of almost every .22LR they usually stock... looks like some panic buying has been going on.

Bart is one handsome cat, btw. My cats say hello, especially Kohl who fell for him at first sight. ;)

I saw those also but couldnt bring myself to spend $100 on 22 ammo. Thanks for the heads up though

Whether you spend it now, or spend it later, it still gets spent.
In the long run, it's better to buy in bulk and save a bit.

(Though, I won't set foot in WalMart.)

I've recently resigned to never shop at Wal mart again, too, for a number of reasons....they still have the cheapest ammo around for plinking though.

Yes I agree, its just that when I can get three 525 bulk packs of CCI Blazer for $48, and all Im gonna do is punch paper with them, the cost of Mini Mags is out of my comfort zone. I have shot lots of Mini Mags, and dont see much difference between them, and Blazers. I have a couple 22 pistols that have the reputation of being ammo sensitive(Bersa Thunder 22, Taurus PLY-22), and they both shoot Blazers flawlessly. Blazers are the only round that shoots reliably out of my Ruger SR22P, and tomorrow, I pick up my new Beretta Bobcat, and I will be shocked if it doesnt shoot Blazers reliably as well.

I bought one of those at Academy for $99.99. The cheapest Mini Mags per 100 where I live is $7.25, so, I figured it to be a much better deal for me at $6.25 per 100 plus you get a cheap $7.00 Plano ammo can. That's a $23.00 savings which is about 1/3 of a tank of gas.

I saw that for $99.00 here in IL about two weeks ago. I bought some 9mm and 380, but keep thinking I should've bought the CCI/box too. I bet if I go back now, they'd be gone.
