CBC casings

Does anyone else have case bulging problems when loading CBC casings in 9mm? I know my COL is correct. I have no problems with any other casings.
Thanks
Barry

I found they tend to stick when resizing and do not resize well compared to other headstamps. I also found that they do not crimp normally and sometimes stick in my seating die when crimping. I have also had crimped bullets fall out or spin freely. I think the brass is too soft based on the sticky feeling and not wanting to stay where it was put with my dies. Gave me a bunch of problems on my progressive press.

I cull all CBC brass now, whenever I get range pickup, or buy once fired, I clean it then go through and remove all CBC and toss them in my scrap/damaged brass tub.

can you post a pic of the bulged casings? might help. are the bulges at the base of the bullet? could be bullets going in at an angle, not straight in. you might need to flare case mouths a touch.

Also if its small bulges you might consider getting a lee factory crimp die. it does a light resize during the crimp and help to smooth out any bulges. you can adjust the crimp as well for no crimp to heavy crimp so if you wanted to use the crimp in your seater you could just use it to smooth things out.

they are about $23 off midway

They're generally pretty good.
But bad batches come from all budget and mainstream brands, occasionally.

(Some more than others... **cough** Winchester **cough** Remington **cough**.)

Thanks guys, very helpful information. I have a lee factory die, when that full length sizing didn’t help I just stopped using CBC casings.
Again thanks !

I don't know the percentage CBC in my range pickup brass, but there isn't enough or bad enough that I get bad rounds and have to pick over a lot of mixed brass

You find the tight primer pockets on IMI and other foreign brands as well. I measured it one time, and the folks in the metric parts of the world seem to run them about 0.0004" tighter, probably due to a metric rounding result. But you can run them through a primer pocket swager or use a primer profile cutter to make them accept primers as easily as anything else.

Only thing I remember about CBC brass in 9mm is the tight primer pockets. Makes Fiocchi seem loose. I never have any issues with CBC brass and cast bullets - that's Federal mostly.

Same exact issue but noting critical. I us CBC 9mm cases with S&B primers. No issue of any sort. Using Lee die set on pro 1000

I did have some bulging with Hornaday XTPs very recently with CBC brass, (you guys jinxed me!), but the Lee FCD ironed that one right now.

CBC Has Been Mui Bueno For Me

I hate to hear of people not liking CBC brass!
I've used it in 45acp for several years, and have had zero problems with sizing, loose primers, neck tension, or anything.
Some of them have been loaded at least 30 times. No problems!
I've only had 2 or 3 split necks in about 7 years.
I just got 100 free CBC nickel casas for 357 magnum carry ammo.
I've never used nickel before, but they were free from my father, so I gladly accepted the lifetime supply he was offering.

I haven't experienced bulging with CBC 9mm brass, but when I run across a CBC case while processing mixed headstamps, I generally know it because the CBCs take more force to size/decap and to fully seat new primers.

I also cull 9mm CBC cases due to tight primer pockets. I tried using a FA primer pocket uniformer and crimp remover, but I still had some Federal and CCI primers which would not seat. Not worth ruining primers, given the current cost. I can't comment on seating or crimping because I never got that far we it the CBC's.

I had not heard that CBC was Brazilian. Last I saw, CBC was Magtech and I had thought Magtech was from Mexico. Could be both places?

Magtech's contact page doesn't mention Mexico, but it dies say this:

CBC - COMPANHIA BRASILEIRA DE CARTUCHOS
Av. Humberto de Campos, 3220
09426-900 - Ribeirão Pires / SP - Brazil

Maybe you're thinking of Aguila?
