Im new to the forum and i wanted to ask a quick question. Now i know that a .22lr in semi-auto will NOT cycle cb longs but is there anyway i can cycle it manually? I have a remington 597. Thanks in advance

I use the CB Long's in my 10/22 for varmint control without disturbing the neighbors.

They hand-cycle out of the magazine fine.

I believe that the cb will cycle in a 10/22, but in the event that it doesn't you can just cycly it manually, it won't hurt anything.

I've used them in my CZ 75 Kadet. However, IIRC isn't there a warning about using them in rifle barrels due to the low velocity and risk of getting stuck? I'm talking about the CB's that just have primer, no powder.

Everybody I know that shoots CBs (including myself) will tell you that for some reason you'll get better accuracy with CB shorts. I shoot them out of a bolt-action to I avoid the cycling issues.

Not everybody. cb longs are slightly more accurate. My theory is that the bullet doesnt have to jump as far to engage the rifling. Unfortunately most places only stalk the short case but whenever I come across the longs for a reasonable price I stock up on them.

yep

Yes, there is. I haven't had an issue using them in rifles, nor have I heard of anyone getting a bullet stuck in the bore.
But, yes, there is a warning.
The good news is that it is very easy to keep track of the bullets. Because velocity is low and the report mild, you can almost always hear the impact. If you don't hear it, then it's time to check the bore.

Answer to question: Yes.
I use CB longs for training children. Low noise virtually eliminates flinch fears.
Have also used in Ruger Single Six for dispatching nusiance critters.

i have tried every combo of low report .22 with 4 different semi's. if they cycled, then they were too loud.it stinks that we have to cycle them manualy, but it keeps the neighbors happy. i think that the best combo of accuracy and quietness i have is a 22 cb short shot through my marlin glenfield 25.i have taken lots of critters with that load.

I've heard this about the Aquilla Colibri's. CB shorts & Longs, do have a small powder charge. A CB Cap is primer only like the Colibri. I haven't seen CB caps in quite awhile.
