We have recently started a small combined SWAT team in our juridiction. We have two towns of casinos and will be conducting training on a closed casino floor this month. Does anyone have any experience clearing a large casino floors, or know where we can obtain and written material covering it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try North Las Vegas police

1301 E. Lake Mead Blvd.
North Las Vegas, NV 89030
Phone: (702) 633-9111
Fax: (702) 649-2655

I believe Deputy Chief Victor Dunn is still involved in this activity. Most of the folks with their feet on the ground that I knew have pulled the pin.

Tried them once, they said it was no different then clearing any other building. Found that hard to believe, but figured they would know better then anyone I guess.

...dricks, Approach them in another way... they are full well aware that a casino with 2-5 hundred players is different than securing and clearing a 2-3 bedroom townhouse... they just gave you the brushoff. Possibly they thought you were trying to counter their intell...

Have you posted your questions on any law enforcement forums? Makes sense to me to go to the source. And, while I doubt anyone will give you any real info on the forum, there's a better chance of them steering you in the right direction. Also kirkcdl is correct, be prepared to prove who you are.

I would think that it would be the "same" as clearing any other building. You would need a lot of manpower on a level of safely clearing a multi-level factory. I would think floorplans would be critical.

First off, welcome to TFL, Thendricks! I'm sure you'll find a wealth of firearm related information here.

That said, call me paranoid if you wish, but I always get a little uncomfortable about discussions concerning specific LE tactics on a public board.

The vast majority of members (and guests) here mean no harm, but it only takes one, as we've learned painfully in the past.

As was suggested, go to http://www.policeone.com/ , or http://forums.officer.com/forums/ , or a similar forum and post your question in their secure, LE only forums. You will have to prove your LE status before you're granted access to their secure areas.

As was also suggested, retry Las Vegas SWAT. Although it's been some years ago, they came to our dept. and put us through a full week of very intense training. They truly are first rate.

I wish you luck, but I think this one's best off closed, before something gets posted that could compromise LE safety. Stay safe :).
