Case trimmer

Hey guys I had some spare time at work and thought I'd try and make a case trimmer that attaches to a drill. I based my design off of the CTS case trimmer. Let me know what y'all think.

The plastic device that inserts from the left, is that a cartridge specific insert that references a datum on the shoulder?

Looks promising.

Yes it is I made it out of a piece of high strength Teflon. That insert is for 25-06 and I'm making a 257 weatherby mag one tomorrow. Don't mind the black spot near the top of the piece I accidentally broke a tap off in it. There's 2 set screws to hold the end mill in and the end mill can slide in and out. I have a case for each caliber that I use already turned to trim length to set it each time.

25-06 is one of my favorite cartridges.

It looks like you can chuck the end mill in a drill press or cordless drill. Is that how you use it?

Yes sir that's exactly how. Very fast and efficient. I love the 25-06 as well. Shot my first deer with my dad's then I bought one and I recently gave it to my fiancé with a custom paint job. That gave me an excuse to get the 257 wby which I've always wanted

You reinvented the Little Crow 'Worlds Finest Trimmer'
Theirs uses a metal shoulder stop running in a ball bearing.

I run one for 223 brass, works like a charm. End mills last fairly long, and are rather cheap for the amount of trimming that can be done. And once they start getting dull they can still be used in the mill as that edge is still new.

It looks to me like he has an end cutting end mill in it. The only better thing, IMHO, is the custom made rotatable inserts that Giraud and Gracey use. They have to be readjusted for every neck diameter, which is the drawback to them, but they trim, chamfer, and deburr all at once, saving you the time involved in those operations.

I get the idea of doing multiple tasks at the same time but it never appealed to me. If I can set up a station to do each individual task ... perfectly ... it appeals to me a lot more that a multi-task tool.
