CXP2/Lot # SRSX173-E127302-K6778 on inside flap

I picked up an Uberti HighWall in 38-55 today, intending to shoot it in the local offhand 200-yrd RamBashes instead of continuing to get beaten to death w/ the 45-90 (520gr projo -- yuck after 50 rnds)

Naturally I'm going to play the next several weeks finding what it likes to eat with cast bullets, but this evening it was whatever the LGS had -- which was some Winchester 255gr SP (CXP2)

Cleaned the apparent cosmoline out of the barrel (yuck again) and cranked off the first round. OK.

2nd round, hammer fell.... nothing, ....no sound but the hammer, ....nothing.....
except a blown primer. (huh?)

Take a look at what I found when I got home and pulled the bullet:

I'll chat with the LGS tomorrow (they're good people), and Winchester after that.

So ? Pull the SP's, dump the powder & run a small drill bit through there & be done with it - call it "case prep". :p

Tom Campbell of Team Smith and Wesson back in the late 80's and early '90s had this happen to him in an important match. It does happen from time to time.
