case feeder hopper Jams

Never had issues with Dillon when drop plate was adjusted.

Easy fix, flip the switch from high, like you might use for rifle cases where the plates hold a fraction of the number found in pistol plates, because they are laid down, to the LOW speed setting, you still won’t be able to out load the collator and the cases will have time to drop down the funnel.

Casefeeder fix

Call Dillon. They have a fix for this. It is a small funnel that sits in the top of the chute. They will send it to you free.

You are thinking of the small insert for the old rectangular funnel, the new round funnels don’t have or need the insert, just need to run it at the right speed for the case feed plate you have installed.

How are you boys adjusting the case feeder.... I've got an auto Drive 1050 and once an hour I get a case sideways in the hopper....either on high or low switch.
What else is there to adjust??

I'm Loading 9mm

Check your manual. Per the Dillon manual (for a 650):

Casefeeding
A. Casefeeder is on but will not rotate. 1. Brass caught under casefeed plate.
2. Casefeed is too full.
3. Bad micro-switch.

B. Cases are falling down tube upside down jamming in the top tube, etc.
1. Using the wrong casefeed plate for that caliber.
2. Casefeed baffle (#13688) not in place (see conversion chart for which cal. require use of the casefeed baffle)
3. Casefeed is too full.
4. The machine is not secured to a sturdy
enough bench.

C. Casefeed tube (#20532 or #20535) appears too short.
1. Casefeed is not pushed down all the way on the casefeed mounting post (#17123).

D. Cases hanging up at micro-switch or micro-switch inoperative.
1. Check the angle of the switch lever and adjust as necessary.
a. Too sharp an angle will cause cases to hang up.
b. Too shallow an angle will cause incomplete shutoff.

E. Cases jamming at the casefeed arm (#13716).
1. Wrong size or loose body bushing for caliber being loaded.
2. Operating machine too fast.
3. Short stroking the machine.
4. Dented or squashed cases.

thanks for the manual reprint.

I've tried most of that. I was wondering what that silver tab is on the left hand side of the opening? Would that help in preventing hopper Jams? My first casefeeder that I've had. I do get 9mm brass sideways and jamming the hopper then I have to chase brass all around my garage floor.
