Case Failure

AR-10

I have a Ruger SRH 44 magnum. I frequently shoot CCI Blazer magnum loads (aluminum cartridge) because they are inexpensive and available. The last time I took it to the range I had a case failure while shooting it. I didn't notice anything unusual until I tried to eject the spent casings.Something was jammed and I had to push the ejector rod VERY hard to get the casings out. One of the casings had a zig-zag burn-crack all the way up one side with a hole burned through the side at the base. I put 30 more rounds through the gun with no problems. When I cleaned the gun I discovered damage in that chamber! The first quarter inch of the chamber(where the hole was burned in the casing) has a series of deep scratches. Not cracks. It's pitted, like the metal was vaporized. Is this a serious problem? This gun is built Hell-stout but I would hate to have chunks of cylinder blowing past my face during some future range outing. Thanks for your time.

AR-10, I don't think from your description that the safety of the pistol has been compromised. It sounds more to me like the scratches were made when the ruptured case was forced from the chamber. But you still might want to talk to Ruger about it. George

send the gun to Ruger with the case, you'll probably get a new cylinder.as long as you use factory ammo Ruger will
replace,if you tell them you ever shot reloads they won,t help.
