I live in North Carolina where, like most states you are required to obtain a ccw permit before you can carry concealed. I have a had a ccw permit for the last 6 years. I do consider myself a law abiding citizen. However years ago we did not have ccw permits here,(or they were very hard to obtain) and I still carried for the safety of myself and my family.
So I guess you can say I broke the law back then. Anyway back to my question. I was just wondering how many people here carry or know of someone that carries without a permit that are otherwise good law abiding citizens.( I know they are not law abiding citizens if they carry without a permit, notice I said "otherwise") Both my daughter and her husband are in law enforcement, and they/we have other family members and friends for one reason or another carry but haven't gotten around to getting their permit. This puts my daughter and son -in-law in an awkward position, since they took an oath to uphold the law, but don't want to arrest a family member or friend. I am sure there are other LEO's on here, and was also wondering what you would do? Anyone here carry or know of anyone carrying without a permit. Just wondering.

I have a CHL. I teach CHL classes. And personally I think like Vermont and Alaska you should not need any 'permit' to do what is your basic right. BUT, if you carry without a CCW/CHL be prepaired to go to jail if caught.

I never did pack heat unless I was fairly sure it was legal (except once when I accidently went over the Walt Whitman bridge and ended up in New Jeresy with my .38 (and got back across the river ASAP to.)

My city hasn't issued a CCW in over 30 years.
My other employer, a police chief, pretty much told me don't bother to apply.

Some of us don't have any choice, save moving to a place that has a better Police chief, and a different county.

Article I, Section 30

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; and, as standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they shall not be maintained, and the military shall be kept under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power. Nothing herein shall justify the practice of carrying concealed weapons, or prevent the General Assembly from enacting penal statutes against that practice.

to carry without a permit makes you no different than the felons because if you carry without thats what you are. I agree it SUCKS that law abiding people cant carry and to outlaw guns only increases crime but you will get nailed if caught.

I doubt that anyone on this forum would intentionally break the law by carrying without a permit, nor would they allow someone they know to carry without a permit. Personally I've never read a single thread that advocates such practices.

And welcome to TFL ThinkTwice :D

I live in Wisconsin and I carry, breaking the law? yup but LEO"S cant be everywhere so I take care of my self, you have to here! Jimi

First offense unlicensed carry in California is a misdemeanor. Open carry in New Hampshire is legal everywhere except your car and courthouses. Open carry in North Carolina is legal.

Did someone mention fishing? Just got back from a fishing trip on Lake Erie...walleyes..yum.

responsible firearm owners would never purposedly break the law and would never post about it on the internet if they accidently broke the law.

I love trolling as much as the next fisherman, but I prefer worm harnesses and fishing rods, not internet trolling...LOL

And that is exactly what TFL is all about, folks, responsible firearms ownership.

See my sig line.
