Carrying concealed in the spring and summer...??..

Well, it's that time of year again and the periennal question arises, what should a man wear? 26 years ago I knew a guy who always carried a Modl 29 44 mag. He always wore a oversized, lined, Ball State windbreaker and he really stuck out in a crowd when it hit 90 degrees. Lets hear some suggestions about what to wear and carry so as to be a little less conspicuous than my friend. :)
I'm saying Llama micromax 380 in the front pocket.. or perhaps a (name of that company we can no longer say) Modl 60 in the front pocket.
The problem with front pocket carry is the gun ends up riding at a funny angle. Any suggestions?

there is a lot to be said for being a slob. i wear a polo shirt or a XXXX t-shirt most of the summer with the tail out. i can conceal my K-40 in an IWB Wilson Covert Companion with no trouble. when you bend over, keep your back straight or you will print. when you get up or out of a car check your shirt tail for coverage. i finally know how a girl in a miniskirt feels tugging on her skirt. i spend half my time being sure my goodies are covered up. LOL

I carry a Taurus 85UL in a pocket holster normally. Wearing Dockers or something of that nature conceals extremely well, with or without a belt. If I've a belt on, the Kahr MK 9, again, in a pocket holster works fine (wearing a belt belays the weight of the MK9). Both conceal well with any type of shirt, or sans shirt. A good pocket holster will position the gun correctly.
One thing you might think of, if you use a revolver, is a concealed hammer. My 85UL was purchased prior to the introduction of the CH version. I don't note a particular troubles on a fast draw...in fact, the Taurus draws quicker the the MK9 or the Glock 19.
I've gotten in the habit of buying casual, outside the trousers, button type shirts. With that, a Glock 19 conceals well. You must watch if you're stretching upward though. With a Tee or Polo shirt, the Glock will print.
With all the pistols noted, in a realistic self defense mode, I feel very secure...not over or under gunned (remember, the first response is to retreat if possible).
Now, tight jeans...easy answer, I don't wear 'em anymore (also, a 50 year old guy looks a bit drifty in tight jeans IMHO).

When I'm not at work, carrying a P-32 in my front pocket, I'm carrying a 1911 with a full sized frame. I wear a tee, not the underwear type though ;) and a short sleeved, button front shirt, unbuttoned and the tail hanging. With a good IWB holster and belt, this combo will make fade into the crowd like you can't imagine, Reaching up is fine, but don't bend over...deep knee bends are the way to go, just like everyone else said.

one vote for the good ole belly band, worn deep with the kimber compact angled and grip riding just above the belt.
jeans, khakis, heavy tee, button up, tucked in or out, winter or summer

If you have a good, thick belt and a good IWB holster, you can (and I do) carry a full size 1911 under a light covering garment such as an untucked polo shirt, untucked and unbuttoned button-up shirt or a light athletic vest.

My test is can I carry the gun and holster combination while wering shorts and a short sleeved shirt, The best combination I have found so far that meets this test is a hammerless or shrouded hammer revolver in a pocket holster.

To HE** with the holster, try BARAMI hip-grips on a J-frame (sized) little revolver. The grip clips onto the waistband, real compact, more comfortable than carrying a wallet.

Battler.

Agree with the recommendation to buy a quality pocket holster. A good holster will keep your gun oriented correctly.

I have three Kramer horsehide pocket holsters. They do the job nicely, and the Kydex facing breaks up the outline of the gun to outside observers (if they even notice).

Being from Texas ..... where it's always summer ;-).....I carry a G27 in a small hip pack (like a fanny pack but the size of a small camera bag) when i'm in shorts. For all other times I carry a P220 in IWB covered by a thick shirt (like a western without sleeves) unbutton or a coat if in a suit :-(

Hope this helps

H&K USP .40 (FULL) Galco concealable with a t-shirt and one of any one of those Old Navy short sleeve button down shirts over it in the S. Florida heat, or even Uncle Mikes el cheapo IWB clip on and loose fitting t-shirt. Use Wild Bills double thick belt for Galco holster, love the belt.

Clint Smith said it best, Handguns should be COMFORTING not COMFORTABLE. I am not a big fan of the mouse guns in the pocket, and that USP .40 jabbing me in the side is surely a comforting feeling.

Deep concealment was covered in previous trend with a lot of good suggested posted there, but to quickly recap what I said, living in the hot & humid Florida swamps where it doesn't even make it out of the 80's in the cold of winter and having to wear a shirt & tie when I go to work, I have quickly learned a lot about deep concealment and I use an ActionDirect Defender Belly Band with a Kahr MK9 (I originally started carrying the MK40 but with serious defensive rounds, I find it hard to shot that little thing accurately -- I guess it requires more practice than I have the time to put in). Regards.
