Carry in Bars / Liquor Stores

Alright...
I'm headed to Indiana at the end of the month for a while and have not been able to get clarification on a few of that state's concealed carry provisions.

-In LA you can't carry into an establisment that "sells alcohol for consumption on it's property"
My permit is accepted in IN, do they have any laws like this?

I could not find anything on the IN.gov website or the NRA/ILA gun law site but have heard from friends that they do have no-bar carry provisions.

I will mostly be in the South Bend / Mishawaka / Gary area, are there any city ordinanaces I should be aware of?

I have looked for info on the websites of the various cities, but they seem more concerned with reccomending places to eat than clarifying their gun laws...

Before you actually carry into a place where you think it might be prohibited (and is, in many states) I recommend actually calling a local law enforcement agency to get an answer. I would not carry anywhere that I think might be questionable on the advice of somebody on the internet.

While you're at it, you should also find out any other restrictions that might apply (such as the usual banks, public buildings, etc.)

Sorry to not answer your question, but I wouldn't consider any answer you get here that doesn't include a link to a local .gov site authoritative, anyway.

EDIT: From packing.org.

# In or On School Property.
# On A School Bus.
# In or On Property That Is Being Used By A School For A School Function.
# Private School (IC 20-9.1-1-3) & (IC 35-41-1-24.7).
# Head Start (IC 35-41-1-24.7
# Preschool (IC 35-41-1-24.7).
# IC 35-47-9-1 Allows the carry of firearms by persons permitted to possess and who are transporting a person to or from school or a school function.
# On an Aircraft.
# Controlled Access Areas Of An Airport
# A Riverboat Casino.
# During Annual State Fair 80 IAC 4-4-4 (Must lock in Vehicle.)
# Shipping Port 130 IAC 4-1-8 (Controlled by the Indiana Port Commission)

Again, as per their disclaimer, don't assume anything there is authoritative unless you verify it...and that's state-wide, you should contact local authorities as well. But it does seem that bars are not off-limits.

Yeah, I'll call up the local bluefellas for the final word. I thought that someone here might have a link to the letter of the law.

The IN.gov website is a little rough to navigate and does not seem to have a full list of applicable ordinances.

The packing.org site has links to references for most of the laws provided, including links to relevant in.gov and state.in.gov sites. As well as a lot to ww w.ai.org, which looks vaguely official, but I'm not sure.

Should give you some useful starting info before you make your necessary calls.

calling a local law enforcement agency

Just remember, a verbal opinion isn't worth the paper it's written on. What is your recourse if the opinion is incorrect and you get busted?
