Carry for the military

I plan on joining the Marine Corps in about 3 years (hence my nickname) and I was wondering to anyone who serves in the military.
Do the regulations change if you're, say, on shore leave? do they change about carry, concealed and otherwise, or on planes? or does my decision to shed blood for my country mean nothing?
(I do hate to end this on a pessimistic note but....)
Thanks for your time.

The only carry I saw not abridged was Military Escort . A Marine Sgt. came into a courtroom carrying a 1911 AND wearing a hat . He was there to escort a prisoner in the event that the Judge cut him loose to the Navy . He stood the whole time and never took his hat off .( This is the rule when armed . You stay " covered.")As far as shore leave you will abide by the law of the land . Unless Martial Law is declared you are just a "guy" on the street .

Young Buck,

Take it from an "old salt" (commissioned 31 years ago this summer with 20 years active duty):
> State/local firearms laws and regulations -- which concern your off-duty/off-base conduct -- will be no different for you than for any civilian (possible exception: many jurisdictions will accept military service as proof of sidearms proficiency for concealed carry permits).
> On-base, rules that are even more stringent are likely to apply (such as zero concealed carriage on any Federal reservation, no private firearms in quarters or barracks, etc.).
The bottom line is you may be required to carry a firearm in the performance of your duty, BUT:
> IT WILL BE VERY CAREFULLY CONTROLLED
> YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO ADHERE TO RIGOROUS, INFLEXIBLE RULES
> YOU WILL BE SMART TO COMPLY PRECISELY WITH THE DIRECTIONS YOU RECEIVE

For very good reasons, the services do not have much tolerance for improper conduct, handling, or control of firearms.
