Carry Condition

I've been carrying my M-43 Firestar in condition 2, with a round in the chamber and the hammer down, thinking that there was little chance of accidental discharge. I read today that this is far from the truth, at least on the 1911. My problem is that the pistol is single-action only, and the safety that locks the hammer is very easily disengaged. Can this pistol be carried safely? I really like this pistol and want to continue carrying it. Thanks!

While not everyone will agree with me, I sometimes carry with the hammer down, safety off, but with nothing in the pipe. It's probably a little slower than other modes, but not bad (you're just racking the slide rather than thumbing the safety or cocking the hammer).

Lucky, I am not very up on that model pistol. Perhaps there is a spring loaded detent in the safety lever, ala BHP. If that's the case, the corresponding dimple in the frame may be able to be ground down for better engagement. This routinely has to be done with the Brownings, from what I've read.
