Carry ammunition for .32ACP pocket pistols

I was wondering how many of us who have a few pocket pistols which are chambered for .32ACP have chosen to carry the new and "hottest" (so far) Cor-Bon hollow points? (Except, of course in Seecamps.) The Cor-Bons have worked out really well in my Guardian and P-32. I called both Kel-Tec and Cor-Bon and both stated that the new C-B was manufactured with the P-32 in mind. I also called North Americam Arms and they also gave the "go ahead" for usage in Guardians. I purchased a few boxes of 50 and measured every cartridge with my calipers and it seems to be the most consistant ammo I've ever measured. Also the easiest chambering ammunition I've ever tried in my Guardian. Anyone else use it?

Well, it WAS difficult to find.

However, at the last big gun show in Louisville, there were several of the 50 round boxes to be had. I haven't seen it in any gun shops yet. My guy always says that as soon as it comes in, it simply flies off the shelves! It's really in demand up here. .32ACP Gold Dots aren't so easy to find, either.

I've still got my Guardian loaded with Fiocchi FMJ - the hottest FMJ available. In a round this small I go for maximum penetration.

Why are you going for a JHP for your 32acp? Aren't you worried about penetration?

Gino...

I'm not too worried about penetation after seeing the stats on the Cor-Bon. It has a velocity of 1050 FPS and more energy than the Fiocchi FMJ. I can't remember the exact ft. lbs., so I'm not going to guess. I just remember that when I made the switch, the C-B had 20-30 more ft. lbs. of energy than the next one down. (And I believe that it WAS the Fiocchi.) I'll try to look up my Cor-Bon stats and post them later. (If my wife didn't throw out the paper. I'm getting quite a pile of "shooting stuff"
around the den. I'm starting to get "The Look". :)

I've been carrying the COR-BON load in my Seecamp 32. It works just fine! I've put about 250 rds thru it over the last year. Why would you exclude them in a Seecamp pistol? I have seen no excess wear on my pistol.

I tend to lean toward Gino's thinking on 32 JHP. I used to carry JHP (Fiochi or Speer GD), and switched to FMJ for penetration. I might switch to JHP after summer arrives and clothing gets lighter, but I doubt it. If memory serves me right, JHP enjoys a 10-15% edge in "one shot stops" over FMJ, with neither stellar. That wasn't enough for me to give up my tendency to worry most about penetration with 32 and stick to FMJ. Comes down to my personal preference more than anything else.

Kentucky Rifle, if you come across comparisons of the Cor-Bon round to others I'd be interested in seeing them. Who knows, it may replacee my FMJ yet.

I carry FMJ's in my Keltec p32.

Penetration and shot placement are paramount with 32 acp.

Unless I was certain that the Corbon could give me the same level of penetration as a FMJ, I wouldnt switch.

I load my Beretta Tomcat with Fabrique Nationale flat point FMJ. The best combination of adequate penetration and wounding effect, in my opinion.

I just recently picked up a Mauser HSc, more for historical interest than as a self-defense pistol. But I am considering a self-defense round since there is always the possibility of using it for that purpose. I was thinking of either Silvertips or Federal HS which are my favorites in other calibers. Does anyone use either of these rounds?

Not me. Still use Silvertip or Gold Dot, although the chambered round is still one of my dwindling supply of PPS solid-copper 40gr MTT's.

Captain: Your Seecamp is not like my Seecamp.
Mine only runs 100% on Silvertips and Gold Dots. (And the Silvertips "keyhole") The Gold Dots are perfect.

.22Shooter: I'm still looking for those comparisons, however now I really do feel that my "overly-neat" wife has pitched it. For 25 years, I've been looking for stuff IN MY OWN HOUSE!! I love her, but WOW! She can't stand to see a coffee ground on the counter! :)

Currently PMC FMJ because that load functions 100% of the time. I like the new PMC 60 JHPs (and they showed .40cal expansion and roughly 11 inches of gelatin penetration in an article i read on the stuff in Gun World a few months back) but i shot up all that i had and cannot find more.

I wanted to shoot the Fiochi ammo, but i get ejection and feeding problems with it.

I like the look of the flat point FN ammo, so i think that i may go order some of that to try out. Has anybody chronogrpahed any of it???

I'm with Gino on this one. The fiocchi .73 gr fmj's are a pretty hot little number. I too want all the penetration I can get out of the .32, and eight rounds of this up close is a real eye opener, or maybe that should be a real eye closer:cool:

I was wrong.

I went to the Cor-Bon website and read the stats.
Cor-Bon .32ACP hollow point: Muzzle energy= 150 Ft. lbs./Muzzle velocity=1050 FPS.

Fiocchi website stats.
.32ACP FMJ: Muzzle energy=155 Ft. lbs./Muzzle velocity=980 FPS.
The amazing thing was this. The Fiocchi semi-jacketed hollow point! Muzzle velocity was listed at 1200 FPS! And, the muzzle energy was listed at 205 Ft. lbs.!! I don't know if this is a mis-print, but that's what is listed. If true, that's SOME strong stuff!

It seems some forget that a plugged JHP functions identically to an FMJ. The only time a JHP can possibly give less-then-adiquate penetration is when it does expand.

The Cor-bon gives plenty of penetration when it does expand, and more than a typical .32 FMJ when it does not.
