I think a four pound trigger is the best weight for any 1911 that will be carried. A range or match gun might be alright with a lighter weight, but no lighter than two and a half pounds.

My Kimber full size stainless had a 5.5lb trigger with a lot of take up and creep out of the box. I had a reputable smith do a trigger job and the pull is now a crisp 4lbs with little take up. I carry this gun and think 4lbs is about right.

Yes. Absolutely. I can shoot quite well with 5 lbs, so why give some scheister lawyer an opportunity to weep and moan to the jury about my "hair trigger"?

For the same reason, the words, "I didn't mean to pull the trigger!" should never pass your lips. You shot to stop the attack because you believed your life was in danger. You intended to shoot - it was no accident. It was the fully justified decision of a reasonable person who was in control of his emotions and his weapon.

I can really see a pattern developing here!

It looks as though, for approximately 60% of those who carry the 1911-style pistol, a trigger-pull weight of 3.50 lb to 4.49 lb is ideal.

Please keep the responses coming, and thanks for voting!

While I don't carry a .45, I'd probably opt for between 3.5 to 5.5 to match the single-action weights on most of my revolvers.

I AIN'TA SCARED A NO LAWYER

Carry gun (but all my handguns are both carry and competition guns).

I have considered legal ramifications, but I choose to ignore them.

I offer no recommendation to others; MY 1911 has a real light trigger.

This poll has confirmed some of my beliefs.

I had heard opinions that my Commander with a 3.5 lb. trigger pull was not "lawyer-proof" and thereby not suitable for carry use.

The poll makes it clear that many of us have different opinions on this matter.

Thanks, everyone, for voting.
