With no slight meant towards you body art afficionados out there, the jacker sounds like a real model citizen, huh ?

What a pity. I'll bet he just got those dreadlocks done just before his little adventure.

Since the newspaper links can disappear quickly, here is the story:

Carjack victim kills attacker near Oakland Park

By DONNA PAZDERA Sun-Sentinel
Web-posted: 10:43 p.m. July 4, 2000

The target of a carjacker turned the tables early Monday, pulling out a gun and killing his would-be attacker.
The owner of a 1994 Camaro had pulled into the parking lot of the Summerlake Apartments, 3449 NW 44th St. near Oakland Park, about 3:20 a.m., said Jim Leljedal, Broward Sheriff's Office spokesman.
The driver was getting out of the car in the gated community when he was approached by a young man who demanded his keys.
When the driver refused, the man began to pistol-whip him, Leljedal said. That's when the driver pulled out his own gun and fired at least twice, killing his assailant.
A possible second suspect fled in a white Chevrolet.
The would-be carjacker has not been identified by police. He is described as a black male, possibly 16 to 20 years old, 5-feet 7-inches tall and weighing 120 pounds. His hair was braided in short dreadlocks.
He had numerous tattoos. On his left forearm were the letters "BOGE;" on his left bicep, the words "show boy;" on his right bicep, the word "thug;" on his chest, a heart symbol; on the right shoulder of his back, the words "ruff rida;" on his left shoulder, a cross; and on the back of his left hand, the phrase "I (heart symbol) U."
Police have not released the victim's name out of concern for his safety, they said.

"ruff rida"

They should charge him with murder (of the english language). ;)

On a different subject, what ever happened to John Stossel doing a piece on self defense, etc.?

Like to read more stories like this ;) No great loss to society.
A guy I work with just had this happen to his daughter in Florida. Her and her boyfriend were on the beach with her car. Some guy grabbed her from behind with a knife to her throat. Got her keys and got her car. Police told the boyfriend it was a good thing he didn't react the BG would have surely cut her throat. I told the guy I work with that I hope her and her boyfriend consider getting carry permits and start going out armed.
Nothing pi**es me off more then this type of brazen piece of crap. I would really like see alot more of them getting dropped in the street.
Those that deserve should get, and get it twice :) Double Tap :)

Then they should have done a better job of parenting, and brought him up to respect the rights of others. Pistol-whipping someone for his Camaro is not the act of a responsible citizen.

And the Camaro driver also was someone's child.

I believe that Hube's post was made tongue-in-cheek.

And it obviously was a joke people.

Ruff Rida got what he deserved.

Also I used to live in New Orleans. The summer I moved, they passed a "Shoot the Carjacker Law" which allows defense in a car of oneself akin to home defense. Isn't it ironic that Mayor Marc Morial was the first to sue the gun industry in 97 on behalf of all of the poor criminals lulled into violence by Joe Glock, that witty cartoon character that makes murder look cool to children.

Now stop posting, go outside and breathe some clean free air in. Pretty soon, we will need licenses for that also ;)

"Police have not released the victim's name out of concern for his safety, they said."

Yet they did release the victim's address. Why?

I suspect that the deceased will be converted into an "honor student on his way to Yale" by the media.
