Care and Feeding of a S&W 36

A friend recently bought a SW .38 snubby, and was recently asking me for more information on it's "care and feeding" as well as use. I've already given her some pointers, but she wanted something to read as well. Something about yesterday got her to thinking about it again.

Do any of you have any links for stuff she can read up on about her new (to her) pistol?

For those that care, it's WAY pre-agreement.. hammer mounted firing pin and all...

Thanks!

She needs three kinds of help. The first is in the operation and maintenance of the gun itself. The second is in the legal aspects of owning, carrying, and using a gun. The third is in the type of ammunition best suited for a short barrel gun.

The first should be in a manual available from S&W. The second is available in a reading of state and local law; there are often pamphets available at gun shops.

The third can be obtained here, but remember that everyone has a favorite and, no matter what anyone says, there is no absolutely right answer for all situations.

Most importantly,

She needs proper training in the use of her new firearm.
Most qualified range master's can give a crash course on the
correct ammunition, and maintenance of a particular firearm;
after she meets the first criteria.:eek: :D

Training for sure. Practice with a 148gr HBWC or the 125gr Winchester WinClean target ammo. For carry either the 125gr Federal Nyclad Chief Special or the RBCD .38 Spec, both loaded to std pressure and should be safe.
