Carbon buildup on Sig P220 Sport

Anyone else notice the excessive carbon buildup on the front of the barrel for the P220 Sport?

The only way I have been able to get it off was with dental tools that I purchased from a gun show. I than coat the front with some Tetra oil.

Any other suggestions on how to remove this buildup? I hate to keep using these sharp instruments.

I agree on the tools. The most important part of the barrel, from the standpoint of accuracy, is the muzzle.

Three thoughts for you. First, there are products specifically sold to make cleaning compensators easier. I don't remember any of the products, but a search of the TFL archives or Brownells catalog should help. Second, MPro-7 is good at dissolving these kinds of deposits. Finally, ultrasonic cleaners are also good at softening/dissolving this crud.

Good luck!
