Does anyone know what the difference between a carbine and a rifle is.

Also if anyone has had any experience with the hipoint 995 carbine i'd like to know

this needs to be in the art of the rifle section but my understanding is that the carbine is a smaler shorter than a rifle

I believe the differance between a rifle and a carbine is the overall size, weight and length of the barrel. The carbine is the smaller of the two, with a shorter barrel and overall length.

Back in the days of horse cavalry, soldiers carried shorter muskets for ease of handling on horseback. These were called carbines, from the Italian.

Later, the term carried over to rifled weapons, and now has changed to mean any short, light, rifled shoulder arm shorter than the standard rifle.
