CAR A3--what kind of scope?

I've never owned a rifle scope in my life. But I just put down a deposit on a Colt Accurized Rifle (CAR A3), which of course is a flattop AR15 that requires a scope to be used.

What's a good quality all-round scope that works well and looks right with this type of rifle?

Also, a B-Square scope mount comes with the rifle. Any advice for using this or another mount?

TIA. :)

As always, put the best optics on the rifle you can afford. Leupold (http://www.leupold.com/) makes excellent scopes. What type of shooting will you be doing? I wouldn't be so worried about what the rifle look like as I would be about how well it will perform the desired task.

Are you definitely going to get a scope, as opposed
to a red-dot sight? If interested in red-dots
(very typical for CARs and other short-range weapons),
the aimpoints and trijicons seem to be the best, or
at least the most recommended. You can see some of
them at http://www.riflescopes.com. I'll be making this
choice in the near future, so let us know what you
pick, please.

CAR A3 scope

It really depends on what you want to do with the rifle as to what scope is appropriate. For the long-barreled target rifle you are getting, a Leupold target scope will probably be your best bet.

If it were me scoping an AR-15, I would check out the Trijicon ACOG 4x32. I would put one on the Match Target HBAR. The scope is pricey, but so durable you will never have to worry about it. Designed specifically for the M-16/AR-15. Four power will enable you to do anything this rifle is capable of, other than maybe varmint or target shooting. I also would consider the Elcan, which I believe the Canadians issue to their troops.

Reconsidering a Leupold target scope, stick with a 40mm objective as opposed to a 50. And check out this thread...

but realize that they are talking about $1000 scopes.
