can't shoot my 10/22

Here is my problem. I bought a 10/22 last summer cuz it was on sale and I wanted another gun. But I have only shot it once since i've bought it. So this morning I went to the range to kill some paper. and decided that the 10/22 was the tool I would use. But I found out that I suck with it. shots are all over and nothing even close to the point of aim.

I picked up the Shorty AR just to make sure I could still shoot and put 10 shots inside 3" in the middle of the target at 50 yrds with iron sights. i know thats crap for some of you, but it decent for me. and a lot better than I was doing with the 10/22

First dibs! First dibs! I've got first dibs on Chink's 10/22!

Seriously, what type of ammo are you using and is the screw and barrel band which tighten the action and barrel to the stock tight? Also check the crown of your muzzle for nicks, dings and other eccentricities.

But, if you want to sell it, I'm north of you... ;)

Sounds like an ammo problem--or maybe something is wrong with your barrel/sights.

Personally, I think 10 shots inside 3" at 50 yards with an AR is fine for just about anyone.

I was shooting Winchester Super-X high velocity stuff first (I think thats what is was) and CCI BLazer. But the last about 3 hunred rounds were cci blazer. could be a barrel/sight problem. I think we took the thing apart a while back. took the receiver and barrel out of the stock and then the barrel off the stock. mayeb we didn't put it back on right.

If you dismounted the barrel from the receiver, check the screws for tightness. If they're loose, that's your problem. Goodluck Garrett. Guess I don't get your 10/22.

...or, get a Magnum Research Graphite bull barrell. Here's a group I shot at 25 yards with my MRI tubed 10/22 using FIOCCHI M300 match ammo. Not bad considering that the trigger is so terrible that pulling it moves the rifle before the shot breaks EVERY TIME. I'm gonna get a Volquartsen trigger assembly next.

My best group yet with the new barrel. Fun gun!!! :D
