Cant decide

So I know similar debates have been discussed in depth before, and im probably beating a dead horse, but im really on the ropes here. Im hoping to get some real advice from people with experience on these two pistols. Ive decided Im officially in the market for a new carry gun, and cant decide which direction to go. But I have narrowed my decision down to two.

Ive been searching for a CZ75 D PCR with little luck finding one in stock. I dont do the online gun ordering thing. If I cant physically fondle a gun first, and check it out completely I dont buy it. I usually want to check out and dry fire the trigger at least. But this is the gun that I think I really want, and is my first choice. I love the way they look. So sleek and stylish looking. I have fired a PCR and I can say, the one I used fit me like a glove, and was about as sexy as a pistol can be. My only problem is if I stick with the PCR it very well may be quite a while before I find one. My local gun shops all claim they are out of stock everywhere, and could be quite a while.

So my next choice, and a close 2nd. Is the SIG P229 In 9mm. I love SIG pistols, and the 229 has about everything going on that I want in a carry pistol. I already own a P226, so I kinda know what im getting in the P22X line. They are great pistols as well, and I think the 229 is a great looking gun. Im sure I cant go wrong if I go this route.

So Im wondering what are some of your opinions? Should I wait it out and try and get the PCR? Should I play it safe and just get the P229? What are some pros and cons on these two pistols? I really like both pistols and Im sure I'll be happy carrying either one. I just need to make a decision.

I think you are best off with the P-series. You are familiar with the manual of arms and how it handles since you already own a 226.

You're going to miss out on a lot of great deals that way. I could see if you've never handled a PCR at all before, but you have and like it.

I'd go for the 229. I'm a CZ fan and love my PCR, but I believe in standardizing on a single platform for defense. If you've already got a 226, it makes sense to get the 229 for defense; the PCR will always be there for you later.

Go with the P229. You will love it if you like your P226.

SIGs have lifetime factory warranty compared to CZ 5 year I believe.

You can also get a P229 with the SRT (short reset trigger) if you want and SIG P229s typically have a very nice trigger right out of the box.

There's an endless supply of these kinds of conversations on forums.
But it doesn't matter, really, which one you choose.
Which ever one you do decide on, just practice with it until it becomes part of you.

I say wait for a CZ, I'm a big fan of CZ ergonomics. I traded my p229 for a p220, but you can't go wrong with the 229 that's for sure.

You're fighting a losing battle here. If you get the P229, you will still want the PCR and if you get the PCR, you will want the P229.

So stop beating yourself and get one now and the other one later on. You won't be happy otherwise.

This happens when both guns are good choices.

I know... ive been going back and forth and beating myself up already. I may have a lead on the PCR... Ill find out Monday. If not, ill probably end up buying the 229. Which I do want. Probably adding the PCR to the to buy list

I've been able to fire the P229 in training several times at Sig, and while I chose the P220 to actually own, the P229 was the gun I always went back to in training. So, I love the gun, and I'd have to say it just may be the only gun in 9mm that I've fired extensively that I've truly enjoyed shooting. My choice would probably be one of the Elite Stainless models though--as I don't care for alloy frames. Stainless allows you to do a lot more with finishing, refinishing, and other modifications--although of course that's not a factor for a lot of owners.

An all-stainless P229 in 40SW would be an exceptional gun, IMO, if of course the weight isn't a factor. Some folks just don't care about weight, some folks want the tiniest, lightest thing they can find. I carried the P220 a few times, but it was never intended to be a carry gun (and definitely wasn't, for me).

While I'm indifferent to DA/SA actions (neither care for them nor truly dislike them), that feature isn't a differentiator between your two choices. What might be a differentiator is my only real objection to Sigs, in general--and that's the extreme bore axis height. On the P220, bore axis is nearly 1/2" higher relative to the trigger than on polymer pistols such as the M&P, and I imagine that's similar to the case with the P229. They are very tall pistols, and I found (in 45ACP) I could do quite a bit better in IDPA shooting with the M&P. Again, this may not be of any importance to you, and between your two choices there may not be any significant difference here.

My advice to you is based on my own, relatively limited pistol buying experience: Don't be afraid to wait. Unless you have a truly pressing NEED for this new gun, if you are really torn don't feel like you have to jump just because there is a good deal. I've jumped and not jumped at good deals before and regretted both before too!

You have two very good choices in front of you. You might miss this deal; another will come along. But neither CZ or SIG is going out of business anytime soon either.

For a few years now I have wanted a CZ Sp 01. Great gun; i've seen deals on them too. Other things were more pressing though and I didn't want to feel pressured into making a decision.

For my budget at least; firearms are to expensive to be an impulse buy!
