Can't decide

I can't decide between a 223 or 22-250. (ya I know... here we go again).
Will use it 75% of the time at the range and 25% of the time shooing coyotes.
I'm leaning towards the 223 just need a little push. But the 22-250 is so flat shooting.

22-250 is a great cartridge, but unless you can use it's full potential, get a .223. It's cheaper, slightly easier to locate components for, a bit kinder on barrels and will do at least 75% of what a 22-250 will do.

Or... do the 22-250. Hell, they're fun! :D

Ohhh... almost forgot. :p
If you get a relatively fast twist barrel... say 1:9, you have a nice range of bullets you can play with. Unless you go custom, I don't think you can get a fast twist 22-250.

That's it,

I shoot GH's with a Weatherby Mark V Preadator Master in 223 1-12 twist and it is very accurate but over 250yrds I pick up my Sako Varmint SS in 22-250 which it's hard to miss with.

I couldnt shoot a Cyote, they look too much like a Dog to me, and Im a Dog lover. But If I were to choose between the two cartridges I would get the .223 just because its more common and cheaper.

The gun I'm looking has a 1:9 twist. Thanks for your input

I am assuming you are talking about 223, and if it is, you will have more versatility with it. I don't know about 40-50 grain bullets, but with 1 in 9 you will be able to load up to 70 grain bullets. They are both excellent calibers. I like to grab a box of PMC's and off hand shoot with my 223.

A .223 is plenty good for Ol' Wily out to around 200 yards or so, no problem. Beyond that, wind and drop need to be considered for a good kill-shot. But it's good for prairie dogs to 300 in casual shooting.
