Can't afford to join NRA?

I am offering one NRA 'scholarship' to any TFL member, not currently in the NRA, who wants to join but cannot for lack of funds. If that is you, send me an e-mail with your TFL name, your true name and postal address, and a testament to the effect that you meet the above requirements. Once I verify the qualifications, I will mail the 'scholarship winner' a postal money order in the amount of a one year membership, with NRA as the payee. It is the scholar's responsibility to acquire a membership application, fill it out, send it in, and notify me of same by e-mail.
If I do not receive the second e-mail within 60 days from the date of the award, I reserve the right to report that fact in this forum and/or cancel the money order and/or file mail fraud charges.

I don't care about the money save that it is used for RKBA and not wasted. I do care that my social contracts are honored.

Send me an e-mail if you have any questions. I may offer more scholarships in the future depending on the final result of this experiment.

I will edit this post when and if the scholarship is awarded.

******************************
I award the scholarship to Dennis Olson. Will someone come forward and take K80Geoff's money?

You might want to extend it to 90 or 120 days. The NRA is really behind in new memberships right now. It took 3 months for them to get mine processed.

That backlog of applications is good news.

The 60 days refers only to the e-mail notification to me that the application has been submitted to NRA.

Slowpoke, since you started this, I will also offer a membership in the NRA to any TFL member who can't afford one. My E Mail is in my profile.

GEOFF ROSS

Geez!

Where were you guys a couple of days ago?

Even though I haven't had work for THREE MONTHS, I just joined the NRA, GOA, SAF and JPFO. (Got the confirmations via email to prove it too).

If anyone would like to "help out" a bit, you'd have my gratitude.

I finally joined them all because I reached the "fed up" point with the Klinton/LaPierre mini-war, and decided to give my support to my beliefs. Strongly. THIS YEAR, more than ANY OTHER, we MUST get conservatives IN and liberals OUT of elected offices.

Oh, I bought ONE raffle ticket for that 50BMG too!

;)

Dennis Olson:

Your action is the definition of sacrifice.
I award you the $35 - retroactively. Send me an e-mail; I'll look for it in the AM.

Welcome to the NRA (and JPFO, GOA, et cetera).

I've never been one to Shut-up, so I guess it's time to Put-up.

I'll contribute $35 under the same conditions as Slowpoke outlined above. We now have two offers of FREE NRA Membership. Slowpoke is paying for Dennis Olson.

Geoff and I are waiting for a couple of volunteers or a few more sponsors.

Any takers?

Slowpoke... DUDE! Thanks a bunch! Email on the way.

And when I go back to work, I'm going to do this EXACT THING, by offering a "sponsored" membership to the NRA.

As a matter of fact, it might be a great idea to make an offer of a couple of such memberships each month. Strength in numbers, and THIS YEAR we need all the numbers we can get!

Great idea, and THANKS Slowpoke!

I'll throw in a membership to under the same conditions. I guess I would hope that someone would do this for me. E-mail is in the profile.

Nate

This is great.

I said that a while ago that my year 2000 resolution is to join at least 5 people to the NRA, GOA and/or JPFO.
I have 3 friends that are getting applications already and 5 more lined up.
I am a very poor college student, but money is not the point, I will go without eating to pay for these memberships. This fight is that important to me.
In this year of the election, we must show the strength of the gun Rights advocates and send a message to the White House. I am doing my part. I am hoping that through these efforts we can double the membership to these organizations (lofty goal, I know, since I am a one man bandwagon ;) ). Kudos to others here doing the same, we need to do this together.

Well, I'm near bankruptcy anyway, so count me in as a donor as well. E-mail me with your name, address and I'll get a money order payable to the NRA off to you.

Dick

Ok, count me in too.
E-mail me just like the five patriots are doing above and I'll sponsor a membership.
No questions asked... :)

Chief Welcome aboard!! Kudos to all, Now we are up to 6? I just called the NRA to confirm prices etc. and another way to sign someone up. Go to either my homepage (see signature) and click on the Join the NRA now button or go directly there https://www.nrahq.org/givejoinhelp/membership/application.cgi You can sign anybody up there, Where it asks for current member number put YOUR number and then fill in the Info blocks with the persons name you are signing up. Put your e-mail address in there at the bottom. and put your credit card data in and you are ready to rock. Otherwise print it out and send it in with a check or money order. The person you selected will receive thier package in 4-6 weeks if you do it by internet or phone, 6-8 weeks if you do it by mail. I am going to sign up my brother in law first and then I'll be back to chime in with the rest!! In the meantime I hope the info is helpful!!

Hi guys, what your doing is great. I'm 17, is there any way I could join, or is there an age limit? I've always wanted to join the NRA, but have never had the cash around (maybe I should get a job).

Twoguns, there's no age restriction on membership, so go ahead. It's $25.

I just called to sign up a friend of mine whose only gun is a Colt 1911 Commemorative, but he'll get into the fight once he starts getting the "word." The guy at NRA membership said they've been swamped with calls since LaPierre made his comments.

Goooooo Waaaayne!

Dick

I paid for my brother's membership recently...right before the "4 Million Members" Sweepstakes kicked off. You guys getting the scholarships are also now in the running for prizes ranging from $10,000 cash and a Kawasaki ATV to 24 $60 gun cleaning kits, and lots of neat stuff in between. That is, of course, if your sponsor does the bit of paperwork necessary to enter the sweepstakes. I sincerely hope one of you gets some of the loot. I was thrilled with the LaPierre deal, so I sent in $35 bucks split between the NRA and the NRA-ILA. I am also sort of excited about the statements about being swamped with membership requests, etc. If anyone knows where we can get some updated info on numbers of new members coming in compared to this time last year, etc. can they pass it on? I am really needing some good news right now...

Earlier I posted that I had called the NRA, They stated to on the phone that the reason for the delays of up to 8-10 weeks is due to the large amout of memberships coming in, I had to wait for nearly 10 minutes for an operator to come online ( It is usually almost instant) That operator (scott) told me that they have been swamped since Wayne go into it with the Pres....this is a great idea guys we need more people to do it!

To everyone at TFL:

TwoGuns contacted me by e-mail a little while ago.
I'm happy to sponsor him into the NRA.

What I can't understand is why hasn't there been greater participation by everyone else here at TFL?
I guess the other 4800+ members must have already joined...

James, I'm proud of you! :)

OK, here's a recap of where we're at:

Slowpoke_Rodrigo has sponsored Dennis Olson into the NRA. Nice going 'Poke, and thanks for starting this out.

Foxfire has sponsored TwoGuns into the NRA. TwoGuns is 17 and we're glad to have him join us in the NRA and especially on TFL.

The following members have offered to pay for memberships in the NRA to any TFL member who is not already a member of the NRA. In addition, the terms outlined by Slowpoke_Rodrigo in his first post may apply. You may contact any of us via email by clicking the email icon in our posts.

We're waiting... :)

1. K80Geoff
2. TheBluesMan
3. glockguy45
4. Monkeyleg
5. The Chief

Oh, and foxfire; I think you may be right about the other 4,700+ TFL members. I'd like to think that most of them that have the inclination and 35 bucks have already joined NRA, or GOA, or JPFO, or SAF, etc. This thread is for the folks that may only have the inclination. :)
