Hoping someone can give me so info on this brass cast cannons maker, age, etc. Bore 50 1/2 inch, 11 1/4 inches overall. Thank you for advice/information.

I would guess that the "71" stands for being made or proofed in 1971 since the last 2 digits of the year of manufacture are often stamped on muzzle loaders.

Thank you all for your responses and ifo. This started out to be used as a sundial (high Noon) cannon. As you can see no progress as yet.
Articap, I think your right on May have been made some years back:but, very close to those currently being made.
