Canik TP9 Recall-Told you, Walther is better

I'm not sending my beloved SF back for that stupid crap. All this from retarded abuse videos on YT? Ok then. I still stand by my Praise of the CANIK.

DON'T MISINTERPRET

That is Century saying it is because of Youtube reviewers beating on the guns. That may or may not be the truth of the matter. Say you carry yours in your office briefcase that gets set down roughly everyday...you going to trust Century on this? The company putting C308s that slam fire? I wouldn't be a million bucks.

Literally none of the tests I've seen involve something as benign as "getting set down roughly" (though to be fair I don't know your definition of roughly nor how you handle your personal luggage). I have no love for Century nor any desire to own a TP9, but misrepresenting the situation doesn't lend credence to your argument. Do we have actual reports of these pistols discharging from typical daily carry?

For the record I have no problem holding a company to the fire for performance in drop tests and other impact tests, as I did with SIG and the P320. I just think we need to be transparent about the conditions that are known to cause problems.

Don't throw your gun around....I thought "yer safety is between mu eers" then use that brain not to abuse your pistol.

It's a bit at odds to say, I'm safe because I use common sense with dropping guns.

But then say, when the distributor says there is something structurally weak about the springs that keeps you safe and there is a fix...what?! no thank you!

Paying for shipping sucks, but is that how Century operates? I bought an EAA imported pistol and it's my understanding that I'll have to pay for shipping if I need to send the gun in. I did my homework and new that before I made my purchase.

As for the recall, it's not the 1st manufacturer to have an issue or a recall and it won't be the last. Why is everyone losing their mind over it?

Freight and warranty

In my experience it's only the upper tier companies that volunteer to pay the freight.
Pretty well convinced that the truckers are really the ones who are lighting their cigars with hundreds, while it's us sales reps who are accused of doing so.

As we all know the cost of shipping is crazy high. I have to deal with shipping stuff a lot, both parcel and freight, even tho the lines between those continue to be blurred.

Only time I have had to ship a defective gun was a BP revolver I bought a pricey stainless steel target model. I paid the freight to have a seriously and dangerously defective revolver replaced. I think I even had to pay the freight back to me.

Oh well, at least they did the right thing and replaced it. Surly customer service to boot.

And you, the consumer, get to pay for the "upgrade" shipping.

Century sucks.
I followed the link and read the whole thing.

Century stands behind their product 100% when used as intended- they are very clear about that.

They are also very clear about saying -if you want to abuse our product then we'll install upgrades to it at no charge that will allow you to do that - as long as you pay to ship it.

I would have to say that's pretty stand up of the company & above and beyond.....instead of "sucking".

Except they are making you pay for shipping for the fix and their response is pretty accusatory-defensiveness usually implies bigger issues. I for one can't find the videos they are talking about. Can you?

Century generally builsd crap when building their own. Example: their C308 can have head spacing issues, google C308 slam fire, google Century AK74 problems.

Currently, I think they are known to be the most difficult company for warranties in the gun industry.

But hey, I've owned 4 TP-9 variants. I have no idea what I'm talking about.
