..that says, "Arrived too late for testing, but looks like a good gun."

that prints pix of shot groups without mentioning distance.

that says, "adequate accuracy for close social work."

or.."like many guns, this one needs a lengthy run-in time."

"Wind prevented any meaningful measurement of groups, but we only had a brief window to shoot it."

"After sending it back to the factory, it seemed to run a bit better."

"Nothing some judicious CAD/CAM operator couldn't cure in a few weeks."

"The usual stovepipes didn't change our opinion of this fine firearm."

and I'm sure you may have others. ;)

I only receive one magazine and it’s the American Rifleman which is included with an NRA memberships. Truthfully I consider the magazine to be just one big marketing tool and quite honesty I’m OK with that. They do provide exposure to new products that I might not others wise be aware of and I consider that a positive. I’m going to read a variety of reviews on new guns and obviously check what the folks on TFL are saying. I also tend to wait until a new product has been in circulation for a little while. So, if magazine editors want to go out of their way to provide favorable reviews to their advertisers I have no problem with that, but I don’t limit my research to one article. Caveat emptor

I forgot AR.

They don't succumb to that. They succumb to direct advertising while the others seem to sneak the advertising into the "articles." ;)

The article on Colt (West Hartford) was nothing new, but I honestly forgot when the strike actually happened. Funny how a significant number of their revolvers got dumped when the strike started.

Those union guys really taught Colt a lesson. Bankruptcy in 1992..... two years after the strike.

Yes I do buy magazines for the ads! Why, you may ask? Primarily because most reviews are nothing more than paid ads and what is worse, the review articles don't differentiate good from the bad. At least in an ad, the seller touts the strong points and if something is ignored, than I figure there might be an issue.

There other reason is my wife does not buy any TP for my library, and the poor mags serve a dual purpose!
