Canadians disarm Japanese

Canadian customs officers seized competition air rifles (valued at US$2500 to US$ 3000 each) from a group of Japanese competitors invited to an official shooting match.

They claimed the import violated canadian firearms laws, and no, permits could not be issued because the competitors were minors.

I wonder if this will cause any complaints...

I'm sure that the Japanese will gladly return the favor if a group of Canadian airgunners ever goes there for a match.

:p

Odd that the invitors didn't inform the invitees of the legal problems involved and how to prepare for them before the group traveled half way around the world. Or maybe they did and the Japanese group ignored them. Either way someone screwed up big time far in advance of the group getting to Canada.

To bad, So sad, but I wont loose any sleep over it.
Japan has more strict gun laws than Canada. They got what they deserved. If it were reverse, the canadians would have been thrown in the slammer.
If Japan had their way the whole world would be disarmed.

It's just theft, pure and simple.
Don't make excuses for Canadian thugs.
They will attack innocent Americans, mark my words.

Don't go to third-world countries (which seems to be everywhere outside of several Swiss cantons and about half of American states) and punish them that way (no tourist money).

Don't forget

A few years back, the Japanese gov't enlisted the Canuck gov't to aid in the ongoing UN program against small arms, which consequently kicked it into high gear.

So...delicious irony; unintended consequences; Frankenstein's monster. However, I doubt there will be little (if any) backlash...afterall there is a "higher good" involved ;)
